Of Orbs and Demons [derek]

"Epoch is very protective." It probably didn't need explanation. And Murdoc was completely unsurprised. It was one of the things that one could expect to happen when one so young had witnessed the death of both parents, and been unable to do anything.

As for what was with the orb? "I have no idea how it works," Murdoc admitted candidly, already setting himself into that rare class of scientist that quite readily and unashamedly admitted when they had no idea about something. "I use it to scan a Psion, and get an indication of what their abilities are and how much control they have over themselves. I've never done a demon before though." So will be treading with extreme caution.

Murdoc put a hand on the sphere. The air thrummed softly as he made contact. He winced slightly as the near overwhelming, intense buzz of demon energy hit him.

It reminded him...

It had been obvious the demon wasn't getting the sustenance it required from the food they were giving it. Murdoc had made note of this before but hell he was just a lab tech, his opinion didn't count.

"So what do you eat?" he inquired, wondering if he would get a response. Sometimes Marax would answer, sometimes not, depending on its mood. They hadn't found a reliable way to hurt it yet, it was being contained quite well by the circle of holding, but other than that all the usual religious crap didn't seem to do much more than irritate it, although it had seemed to get irritated more easily lately, apparently being in a weakened state.

Marax turned slit eyes upward to regard the young lab tech, often teased about being in the wrong profession due to the black "executioner hood" of fur that patterned an otherwise white head. Murdoc froze as those slit eyes didn't so much chill him as cut straight through him, he could almost feel the physical pain of being sliced.

"Energy," the demon responded in a penetrating whisper. It only ever spoke in whispers, but ones they could hear clear across the lab, if it chose to project that far.

"...what kind...?" Murdoc asked faintly, fearing he already knew the answer. Marax smiled in response, showing a row of pointed needle teeth. Apparently changing the subject, it casually mentioned:

"You know Danika is carrying your child."

Murdoc's brain buzzed again. He hated it when the thing talked about Dani. Not only did it remind him how much he missed her, how long they had been apart, how he wasn't even supposed to be here, it freaked him out.

"A boy. Going to look just like you. Smart too."

"Don't, please." Ares, he had no idea how to deal with demons. He barely knew how to deal with his superiors. As horrific as it could be sometimes he preferred being out in the field. Still, Marax wasn't looking as active as it had earlier, when it had initially been force summoned. Maybe it was doing it deliberately, to trigger that instinct that had driven him to become a medic in the first place. It probably knew it had him hook, line and sinker. He cursed internally. "Look," he said shakily, as he shrugged off his lab coat and left it on the nearby chair, "I'll come in there, and you grab some energy, or whatever, just don't..." he had to be careful how he worded things now. "I'd like to be alive and intact, please."

Marax's smile increased, still terrifying and yet somehow comforting. "As you wish."

Second guessing himself all the way, Murdoc had gone down there, careful not to break the circle. Marax had quite politely waited right in the middle for him, not doing anything aggressive. The buzz of its energy had done his head in.

He hadn't made eye contact with the demon as he approached. When he reached it, Marax had raised his chin with one long, triple jointed finger. Once eye contact was made, Murdoc found himself unable to look away. He'd been aware of Marax's clawed digits grasping his shoulders and upper arms.

Then the pain. He could not begin to describe it. He vaguely recalled trying to scream, trying to struggle, unable to do neither, trapped within the confines of his own body. All he could see were those slit eyes. For a while he was certain Marax was going to kill him, and it had been stupid for him to go down there in the first place to try to help.

Then he had hit the floor, feeling as weak and helpless as a grain of sand in a storm. For a while he couldn't move, but he could FEEL the marked increase in the level of buzz. The pain of hitting the ground crept in slowly, accompanied by the numbing pain of where the claws had dug into his shoulders and arms, and a pins and needles type tingling over his body. As soon as he could move his limbs, he moved away from the demon.

"Mind the circle," Marax said as a parting shot, irony not lost. Murdoc had stepped over it without breaking it on the way out.

A shudder passed visibly undetected through Murdoc at the strength of the memory brought up by that familiar buzz. It made the welts left on his shoulders and upper arms, hidden as they were by his clothes, tingle strangely. Outwardly calm, and figuring that he may as well play for his own sanity seeing as he didn't think he'd be fooling the bloody demon in front of him, Murdoc inquired: "You have a name you prefer or you happy with Daemun?"

ooc - if you wanted to seriously complicate things Sydonai would probably be able to quite casually "disregard" the contraceptive Byte's on :P Like everyone else Byte tends to be aware of the supernatural crap but not really think about it (brain doesn't really like engaging with things outside of accepted reality/norm etc) and deal with it when it comes up, so if she picked up on Sydonai's "presence" or whatever it would probably freak her out a little, even if she decides to ignore it momentarily (assuming she can) while she's enjoying herself :P

-=o=-

"Yeah doesn't look like we'll be up all night," Poi smirked. "Good thing too, you're messed up and I'd like to get home for longer than ten minutes at some stage." She looked over at Geiser, then grinned at both of them. "Least you got someone to keep you in line now." She winked at Rav'una, and then brought up a couple more boards. "Got a couple more gashes that looks like they'll just need sticking, two broken boards, but definitely looks like we lucked out."

"I don't s'pose you'd know if the Catatonians had encountered Mercurites before?" Geiser inquired. The few races that had managed to encounter the secretive Mercurites knew it was fairly pointless attacking them directly.

"Apparently" Was all Daemun replied, his tone almost monotone and his own level of lacking surprise seemed evident in his word. Daemun too had lost a lot in his time and so he couldn't help but wonder if something of that nature effected the way Epoch was today. What he didn't realize is he could not have been closer to the truth, considering what had happened to him and all. Though Daemun could probably give his bad history a good run for its sympathy.

"In other words you know what it does, you're just not entirely sure what that is exactly" Daemun responded with a finger pointed casually to the orb, twisting his wrist with his palm opening as he deepened the gesture and looked at Murdoc as he proceeded to question "And I'm not so sure about you never having tested it on a demon before." With a faint smirk dancing in the shadows of his emotions Daemun added in a kind of 'I know something you didn't tell me' manner "Let's just say I have my ways of knowing."

Well at least the tension was starting to ease. That was an excellent start to anyone's day when it came to spending any amount of time with Daemun. This would probably take a while and who knew how he would react to it. Just as Murdoc had been cautious with Sydonai's meeting he would want to be extra cautious with Daemun. That wasn't to say anything would happen neccessarily but it was a possibility with any demon of his nature.

From there Daemun watched Murdoc's every move as he placed the hand on that strange orb sitting atop his table. How intriguing. Murdoc seemed so bothered by something swimming about the rivers of his thoughts and the energies Daemun could sense from him were that of fear, pain and concern. What had happened, somehow, Daemun knew. Not right away or as an entirety but brief flashes of the entire scene, completely only through brief seconds of shared memories, flowed quickly through his head but Daemun wasn't phased. At least you couldn't tell if he was or not by just how eerily calm he was all of a sudden.

"Daemun's fine." He responded, oddly enough not as bluntly as he had once before. With that Daemun leaned back in his chair, his left foot rested on its side against the top of his right knee, his arms draped over the top of it as that little smirk of his worked its way back into his expressions. "So do I just call you Doc?"

Then, almost out of blue, he mentioned something in reference to what Murdoc had recalled, his smirk deepening as he did so. "You know, dwelling in demon stuff is a risky thing to do. Then again you could always Marax to confirm that but I doubt you want that again.";

Meanwhile...

OOC: That could work, yeah. But it also depends on what you're comfortable with doing in this scenario too. So it's up to you what you want to happen between Derek and Byte =). After all, Byte is one of your characters =P.

Rav'una could only smirk at Poi, stopping what she was doing long enough to look up at her, before proceeding to continue the cleaning with that smirk still in tact. It was proof enough that she certainly knew exactly what she was talking about.

Finishing the cleaning she placed the scanner back into the toolbox for now and turned her attention back to Poi as she explained what else had been found. With a nod Rav'una replied "It is quite severe but fortunately not as bad as it could have been. With all things consider I would say we have been most fortunate."

When inquired about the Catatonians, Rav'una's tail gave a light twitch at its end, Rav'una closing her eyes for a moment and taking a deep breath in as obviously she despised their armies with a passion. Opening her eyes as she exhaled slowly she then turned to Geiser with a brief shake of her head.

"I can not say for certain but I can certainly assure you that they have attacked many of our people before. Though it would not surprise me if they have had at least a few encounters with Mercurites in the past."

Murdoc smiled. "Everyone else does."

Murdoc started, evident only in his looking up and making eye contact where he'd been kind of gazing at nothing in particular before. He'd forgotten how much he hated it when they did that. At the mention of Marax's name, a silent wince made it's fleeting way across his features and he couldn't stop his free hand from moving to the welts to rub out the light prickling sensation that suddenly burned through them.

The other scientists were running a scientific investigation with the summoning and subsequent experimenting. They had the usual god complex, thinking they'd thought of everything. Murdoc's occultic interests stayed safely within t he realms of working things out from other people's experiences as far as summoning was concerned. Plus obviously no one else really thought about these things but how would a demon feel, getting on with its life when it's suddenly ripped away from whatever it's doing and stuck in this circle with some pansy little meatbody trying to order it around? Really. He could say it wasn't his idea or whatever, but he'd been there and it just felt like passing he buck. He still wasn't sure if energising Marax had been the smartest thing to do or the best way to go about it, but as Darkmoon had gently mentioned when he had been gently questioned about the residual energies Darkmoon and obviously Daemun now had been able to sense, they had brought in on themselves when they brought on a field medic who was less inclined to follow orders and more inclined to follow his instincts.

"Wasn't me that used it before," he said. "After..." he couldn't bring himself to use Marax's name for some reason. Not a problem he'd encountered before but it was one of those things he didn't talk about with the few that did know about or remembered it, and one of those things that nobody else knew and thus thought to ask. "...he destroyed the place, I figured they wouldn't need it anymore."

He skimmed over the top of Daemun's surface thoughts, picking up mixed emotions of sadness, regret, anger at himself and the world over the former two, and a dash of hope, all simmering over a currently well controlled fire of pure, primal rage. His research and observations had suggested that the demons were like the aspects, and required a host/avatar. Considering he was working enirely on researchand observation he was quite prepared to admit that he was wrong.

"You're either able to manifest or you seem to have formed a symbiotic relationship with a host body," Murdoc commented, not sure whether it was rude to the host body to just address the demon, if indeed there was a host body, or anything left of the last resident of the host body, or if the energy that had been in the host body was now part of the demon. The whole possession thing was a little hazy. Either way, as far as he could see just from looking, if there was a demon and a host, they probably could not be separated now. They were going to have to hope that the Amun worshippers didn't get a hold of him.

-=o=-

ooc - she might get a bit pissy about being knocked up now, she's only 18 :) What I currently have in mind is (assuming you're okay with it) is that after they've been going like rabbits (or mice, donno about the humanoid version but the actual Earth mice are fairly prolific :P) the last time before they collapse from exhaustion she's about to switch position when Derek pins her and she catches a glimpse of Sydonai (blue eyes, freaky surrounding shadows - and hey the Sydonai I'm familiar with is a demon of lust so I couldn't see him not getting involved even just a tiny little bit although he would let Derek have the spotlight for the most part :P) which freaks her out a little at the time and then when she remembers it the next morning. Erm, can play by ear whether it's the start of something or a one nighter, depends entirely on what Derek is looking for, Byte's easy like Sunday morning :P

-=o=-

"Obviously not very bright then." Poi shook her head as she removed a couple more boards. It was easy to tell which ones were damaged and which weren't by the way she handled them, she was a lot less careful with the write-offs. Sitting up she grabbed what looked like a huge roll of duct tape from the toolbox medkit, bringing up a pair of scissors with it, and got to work sticking the gashes that needed sticking. "Unless they're smarter than we think and they're trying to find something that can punch through mercurite."

Whatever Geiser had been about to say, he didn't say it as that uncomfortable thought pricked at him. Something that could punch mercurite. On a purely selfish level, that did not bode well for the Tir. On a more socially conscious level, anything that could punch mercurite was going to completely and utterly decimate most other vehicles, or anything really.

He didn't like that idea.

Daemun's smirk played a pretty small role in his expressions but you could tell there was something about this sort of scenario he could not help but actually take some level of pleasure out of doing. It was like teasing for a demon and while others saw it as somewhat cruel and cold a demon, in particular one like Daemun's, saw it as just a means of playing around. Or at least reminding the other briefly that not all could be easily hidden from a demon of power. It may have been invasive of Daemun but at the same time it wasn't hard to pick up on the memory energies and get at least a few glimpses of what was going through Murdoc's mind.

The way Murdoc reacted had pretty much confirmed to Daemun two things. One, he had his experience with demons before. And two he was still new to it and therefore naturally would have been cautious. However this also left him vulnerable and open however surely by now Murdoc had a trick up his sleeve to save himself and others should things get out of hand. Right?...

Though Murdoc may question if energising Marax was a good idea or not Daemun saw it differently. In fact it had, somehow, earned a little more respect and Daemun's trust in Murdoc was knotched up a few more points as a result. Very few were even brave enough, yet alone trusting enough, to take the word of a demon but Murdoc, by what Daemun could tell, saw what others did not in a demon: That they too had their level of honor and certain laws to obide by.

"I see." Daemun seriously responded, simply enough, with a nod before proceeding to add "I've got to give you kudos for bravery. Not too many throw out their trust like that, even if he did sort of break a law in the process. I mean, doing all that damage and all right after being helped." With a shake of his head Daemun continued with a small exhale of air in a silent sort of sigh "What he should have done was ask what you wanted in return for helping him." With a shrug Daemun smirked a little as he added "Well at least it was a learning experience for you, right Doc?"

Shortly after having had his say Daemun's more firm attitude gradually rolled back into play, those emotions Murdoc managed to scan certainly ever present, clashing with one another like waves of a magma within a volcanic pit just ready to explode at any moment. Fortunately Daemun had learned to controll most of this but regret and now guilt certainly were not the easiest things to ignore. True, most demons required a host/avatar. But not all demons. Each demon is as different as each mouse on Mars. Though for the most part you could generelize them and give a fair description of their bahaviours and lifestyles it wasn't always the case for all of them. Daemun was a perfect example of how the race had its black mice amongst the numbers.

Listening to Murdoc's theory on what could be for a moment there Daemun remained silent until that eerie little smirk of his made its presence known once more, an amused sort of chuckle granted before then with that smirk still in tact Daemun leaned forward a little, his right hand raised as he pointed somewhat casually at Murdoc in his response.

"Are you always so to the books with your theories?" He asked before then explained with a small shake of his head "Truth is Doc at this point I don't think you can really seperate the two of us. We're one of the same being, sharing our bodies and abilities as a single "host" as you so...delightfully put it. How else would explain my left eye? And my general fur tone and appearence? My attitude, apart from what has happened in the past? It all falls into place like a one big fucked up puzzle. Simply put, what once was seperate is now as one."

Meanwhile...

OOC: Lol, point well taken =P. Sounds like a plan to me! So would we role playing that part of just explain it happened in a past sense? As for what happens from there it honestly is up to you. Derek's pretty much a Vinnie in wolf form but he might just have a crush ;P. Depends on what you want to happen and what you're okay with though. I almost forgot all about Sydonai being a demon of lust of sorts, XD! I was thinking he would get involved somewhere along the line. Wouldn't surprise me really =P.

"I hardly believe in their mental compacity all that much" Rav'una firmly noted before then rubbing her chin in thought as she continued in a thoughtful tone "Although perhaps you may be right. The last of which I have heard they do have a reputation of testing new weapons and improving on their last. Fortunately, for us, they also have a reputation of creating things with what is often one major flaw, therefore making it easier to stop whatever it is they throw at others. Granted you can find it and/or them first."

Rav'una had wished she paid more attention to technology but then she remember a certain technician who seemed to have the answers to just about every technical problem on the face of this universe ("On zee vase of zee universe!").

Finally Rav'una said something, turning her suggestion to Geiser and then Poi as she made her verbal note, trying to spread the response between the two who were at different sides of her.

"The Lupronian you have working here in your Tir. Perhaps he may have some answers of which could help us?"

"I don't help people because I want or expect anything in return." Murdoc might have been slightly annoyed but with his accent it was hard to tell, it was nice to listen to and his tone hadn't really changed. "I was quite glad he didn't kill me or the cave tribe." He'd gone and killed all the other scientists. Murdoc couldn't really say he blamed him. Almost as an afterthought he added, "I did suddenly know a lot more about herbal medicine that I had done after that encounter."

Murdoc, who had once more lost focus in the eyes and was staring off into space, blinked and refocused when Daemun mentioned by the book. "I'm a scientist," he said, sounding slightly self depracating, "we're always trying to explain things. It's what we do." He smirked. "And it would seem my theory is at least on the right track if not correct." He pushed a little further. Wondering at the thought process of a demon and a mouse that would want to do this kind of thing, whether their personalities would match up all right, whether one had to yield or if there was cooperation, or if both "died" per se and a new being was born with aspects of both.

The scientist in him wanted to ask while doubting if Daemun wuld know the answers. The doctor was just about done.

"You know what your triggers are," he said at length. He looked teadily at Daemun. "Don't put off dealing with it for too much longer." Murdoc took his hand off the sphere, and the room spun. He focused hard on the ground beneath his feet, swaying only slightly.

ooc - might do it flashback style with Byte after I've managed to get the other characters down for the night :)

"How the hell did they survive that long?" Poi wondered out loud, proving she was actually listening while cleaning down the salvageable boards.

Geiser had been busy unwrapping the bandages from around his hands. Then he was happily checking out the tender new skin starting to form, but more impressed by the fact the third degree burns had been reduced in severity to first degree. After that he became aware of the question Rav'una had put to them, the one that Poi would have answered with a blank look if she hadn't already been busy.

"The Lupe?" Geiser racked his brains trying to remember information about the Lupe in question. Apparently he'd had a bounty hunter after him, who had managed to worm his way in somehow. Cypher had "taken care" of the problem, though Geiser had had to have words with him about that. Cypher. He'd heard the Lupe had been put on as a techy, he wasn't in the hangar therefore he was doing bikes or mechs and if Cypher had gotten involved somewhere along the lines it meant the poor bastard was working with the Cavalry star. He chuckled. "Think he's workin' with one of the mech stars. I'd say he's gettin' busy right about now. Remind me in the morning. Leave the boards to air dry, Poi."

"Yes sir," Poi replied.

"Maybe you don't and didn't have to" Daemun explained with a casual sort shrug "But demon law is demon law."

Daemun sure knew a lot about demons. Besides the fact he technically is one he had always researched very deeply into the subject and all things related. It was part of what made some worry about him and others become intrigued by him while everyone else just remained cautious toward him or perked a curious brow or two his way. If anyone was to be asked about demons, Daemun was the mouse to talk to. But just like most, but not all, demons he remained borderline cocky about it and for good reasons kept a lot of secrets of the demon worlds to himself. At least what he knew of them anyway. He may be quite aware of them and know a lot about them but he was far from knowing everything.

"So the sarcrifice was worth it then, huh?" Daemun asked with a serious yet somewhat calmer tone, giving a self confirmed nod before then pointing out "At very least it was a learning curb for you. And damn straight you should be grateful." That was all Daemun had to say. The rest Murdoc pretty much knew from there.

"Typical" Daemun scoffed with a small curl of his lip. "You text book thumpers are all the same. Always trying to find some explination as to how this causes that to what and when for how long and why. Not everything can be explained." With a brief shrug Daemun continued "Sure you could give your theories and if you sound convincing enough others will believe you but that doesn't mean there's always an explination."

A small chill flowed across the room and for a moment it seemed Daemun's memories effected the very fabric of reality as a glimpse of his past, a pentagram drawn in blood with large, thick black and white candles lit coordinated carefully at each point, before fading away as Daemun continued "Though one thing I will agree with is there is always a reason as to why things happen."

Perking his brow at Murdoc after having been told not to put off dealing with it for much longer Daemun then frowned a little as he asked rather bluntly "You think it's really that simple, do you? To just hold it all back like it's on some kind of leash?"

"It is a question we so often ask ourselves..." Rav'una simply replied with a small roll of her eyes. "With how careless they can be it is any wonder how indeed they survived so long."

Turning her attention to Geiser now Rav'una's mood changed to a more pleased style as she saw how effective her medical treatment to his wounds were and could tell he was happy with how effectively the stuff worked. "Now you understand why that substance is so rare" She noted with a smile.

With that she waited for a response, her attention once more going to Geiser who gave his response. "Yes, the Lupe" Rav'una nodded in confirmation, waiting for the completion of his response before then nodding in understanding to what was said.

"Understood. I do not know him all that well but from the brief encounter I have had with him and from the reputation he seems to be making for himself I would say he may well hold some answers that may aid us in our current situation. Of course, I could also be completely wrong but my instincts are rarely ever wrong."

(ooc - black and white? Always thought it was black and red for some reason. Must be getting my religions crossed again. Happens when they keep trying to co-opt and take over each other ;)

The chill wasn't helping. And the bloody pentagram didn't help matters either. Somewhere at the back of his mind he was wondering if Daemun had managed to use his own blood or, if like the scientists, he'd gone and killed a 15 year old virgin to provide the "paint". Unlike Daemun he believed everything had an explanation, even if you didn't know what it was and couldn't find it. He had never been able to explain how people could so callously and unthinkingly decree how much a life was or wasn't worth. The girl they'd bled dry had had family who loved her.

He took a deep breath and looked over at Daemun. "No," he said. He knew it wasn't that easy. Bottling things up was bad for you. "I gather you're tired of people always saying 'We just want to help you' and always wanting to 'talk about it'. If you want to talk by all means, come see me, or Commander Strike if you feel more comfortable with him. I think you're smart enough to work out what you need to do once you've identified the problem, and we will do our best to help with whatever you need or want help with." He straightened once he felt like he wasn't going to randomly throw up. "You should get some rest, sir. You can crash out in the Psion room until they assign you a bolthole. Even if you don't feel like sleeping, maybe you might like to talk to Phoenix."

-=o=-

"I'll contact his starleader in the morning," Geiser smiled. "I donno 'bout you girls but I'm starvin'."

"Food sounds great," Poi agreed.

(OOC: Actually I think you're right now that you mention it. But I know in Wicca they use white for anything light and black for anything dark basically. Well almost anything dark with some exceptions. But I mainly chose black and white because I thought "Balance...dark...light..." and plus it looked cool in my mind, lol! =P)

It was such a common mistake for others to use the old virgin blood clitche for demon summoning but it also depending on the demon and what it required and/or asked for in order to be called. And not every demon was happy about being yanked from its place and thrown into this world like a rock through a astrogolical window. In Daemun's case he used his own blood for the entire ritual as it was his intentions to form a bond with the demon he summoned. And that he most certainly did, and then some.

Daemun saw it as rather pointless to sarcrifice something living just to use its blood in some kind of summoning and for the most part it just seemed like such a waste. Most demons actually frown upon such things but again it depended on the demon as some rather admired it and even took pleasure from that sort of thing. Again, demons are as diverse as the mice on Mars.

His memories of what happened that day would soon enough reveal themselves bit by bit, granted that Murdoc didn't end their meeting early. And if he was really interesting in knowing more he would have to be patient and think smart about his options. That orb may well not be enough to unlock the secrets of Daemun's past and as much as he hated a lot of it a part of him was willing to share it with Murdoc, now that a level of trust had began to form.

For now he just listened, observing Murdoc's reactions and sensing a whole set of energies from him that proved the Daemun that Murdoc must have been about as comfortable around him as Daemun was around the Murdoc. Perhaps even less so since Daemun seemed to be rather intimidating a lot of the time without even intending to be.

"I guess you're right." Daemun finally replied, standing from where he had been sitting, his tail low and curled up a little at its end to keep it off the ground. "Maybe we're not yet ready to share any secrets just yet." He admited, refering more so to Murdoc than himself, looking straight at him as he pointed that out almost as a hint that it was either now or who knew when the next time they would meet again if Murdoc wanted to know more.

"Pheonix?" Daemun asked with a perk of his brow. "Who the hell is that?"

Meanwhile...

"Did we not just eat?" Rav'una asked with an amused smirk on her face before seeing a clock near by (assuming there is one near by =P) and blinking some in surprise at what time it was. "Fru'lk! I had no idea it was that time already..."

"How long have we been working here for?" Rav'una inquired as she turned to Poi and Geiser with an inquisitive expression.

Meanwhile...

Now we haven't forgotten about Derek and Byte, have we? Good, good. Because speaking of whom Derek's...grand adventure certainly turned out to be the best night of his life! Now he couldn't speak for Byte and there were a few points during the night were Derek had felt a little unusual but the experience was so wild and full of...passion that he wasn't at all surprised to find himself laying back beside Byte, panting tiredly from what had to be the longest yet, again, the greatest night of his life.

"Phew! I'm exhausted!" Derek said in between pants, turning his gaze to Byte with a smirk as he said "I hope it was as great for you as it was for me." WIth a smile he further added "I uh...I gotta say thanks by the way. I more than just apreciate it."

(ooc - either we know different brands of Wiccans or I'm thinking seriously oldschool Pagan then, or just crossing religions XD)

"Believe me sir, I would love to speak more with you, on anything and everything," there was a definite sign of interest in Murdoc without the overeager fawning. "I apologise for piking out early, but I'm not a Psion, and this...does my head in." The language blend of formal and informal was slightly amusing, and then there was that slight pause, brought up either because Murdoc was looking for words, had suffered another brief dizzy spell or had realised he was about to admit a weak point to someone he didn't know that well. "If it's okay with you, I would like to speak with you again, in the not too distant future."

He knew he was right about Daemun needing rest, you didn't need to be a Psion to see that he was exhausted. He may be a demon but even demons get tired, and Daemun had been through a lot lately. The brief kip he got while Redspot was fixing him up, while helpful, wouldn't have been anywhere nearly enough. He needed a decent night's sleep. Murdoc needed one of those too, now. His brain was aching something terrible.

"You won't miss Phoenix," Murdoc said. "Mercurite, shimmering wings. I believe they're her talon marks you've almost healed up." Murdoc nodded towards Daemun's shoulders were Phoenix's claws had dug in when she had grabbed him to stop him hitting desert and pushed him to fall onto the roof of the Tir instead. "Her triad mates would have left bigger marks."

(ooc - clock nearby? Uhh...sure, why not? XD)

"Since shortly after lunch," Poi answered vaguely, gathering the tools back into the toolbox and shutting it, and making sure the boards were securely propped up where she'd put them to dry.

"Long enough to need a break." Geiser got to his feet without assistance from his hands, stretching out. A couple of his vertebrae clicked back in. He relaxed and looked at the boards. "We really need Retro to look at those," he muttered disconsolately. "Got all the boards, Poi?"

"As many as I could see," Poi replied. Geiser nodded.

"Not much more you can do here, kiddo. May as well head home til you're needed again."

Poi's face lit up with a bright grin. "Thank you sir."

She saluted quickly. "Nice meetin' you, ma'am," she said to Rav'una before scuttling down the scaffolding and disappearing into the changeroom. Geiser smiled after her, then he looked at Rav'una. "We can go to the Eatery," he said, "get something and take it back to mine, if you like."

-=o=-

(ooc - they're still awake? I would have thought they would have passed out from exhaustion til morning ;)

Byte rolled onto her side to face Derek, smiling in response to his smile. The movement elicited a surprising friction soreness which she hadn't felt for a long time, probably because despite whatever feelings at the time she'd never felt inclined to go for nearly as long with her previous partners. With cider on the brain she'd just wanted to bang him because he was hot and she was vaguely curious to see just how physiologically similar the Luprons were. He probably just obliged her because he had also had way too much cider for a cider virgin and maybe he felt like he owed her something because she pulled him out of a shipwreck.

She touched her nose to his lightly, her tail winding around one of his legs. "I bet you say that to all the girls." She shuffled closer to press against his warm body, gently stroking the fur on his chest with the back of her fingers, tucking her head under his chin so she didn't have to look into his eyes. She'd done quite a bit of psychic sex in the last couple of years and could quite safely say she had never before reached that insane level of intensity with anyone. Maybe it was that strange desire to make sure he had a night like he'd never had before, not something that had ever crossed her mind to do for anyone else before. Make them feel good, sure, as long as she was enjoying it too. But not like this. Maybe it had something to do with evil shadow demon. A light shudder coursed through her body. There had been a couple of instances where she thought she felt...something...but during those times Derek had moved his head so that her antenna lost contact with the tips of his ears and for that brief moment they couldn't feel what the other was feeling, not that it had really mattered at the time. Then there had been that moment before the last climax, where she thought she would flip on top and let him enjoy the ride, he had very suddenly pinned her by the throat. Byte didn't mind it rough, but when she'd made eye contact with him, she'd been startled to find his eyes had darkened considerably to a completely different shade of blue, and the smile he was wearing was a lot more chilling, a far cry from the silly ecstatic puppy grin he'd been wearing for most of the night. She had been freaked out, but other than what must have shown on her face there was nothing she could have done as for that brief moment, she felt unable to move. Then the intense pleasure had ramped right up and she'd gotten into rhythm with him, and he'd done the classic wolf pose howl, and Byte, not naturally a screamer, had joined right in. After that he'd just been Derek again.

She couldn't quite get that creepy, chilling image of him, or what he'd briefly become, out of her head though, and it wasn't from lack of trying. Damned if she was going to let that ruin anything though.

(OOC: Honestly at this point even I'm getting confused and I'm Wiccan, LOL!)

"Well in that case I might just have some time to spare" Daemun responded in his usual firm way but this time was being a little more forgiving in his tone. Looking at Murdoc with the corner of his lip curled up into a small devlish grin of sorts Daemun noted "I'm sure even a Psion would find it hard to handle so don't be harsh on yourself Doc."

True, Daemun needed his rest and he had been through quite a lot indeed. Fortunately he had some very small assistance from Redspot but as mentioned that would not be enough to last for too much longer. And so with a nod Daemun replied "We will. Just let me know" and was about to walk out when Phoenix came into mentioning.

Daemun looked at his shoulder as best he could, he hand raising to hover just above the area Murdoc was talking about for a moment before his slowly closed his hand as he lowered it to his side, opening in ease, and looking over at Murdoc with a nod. "I remember her" He replied, seriously yet calm, and continued "Well she did what she had to and it was better than hitting the ground. Where can I find her?"

Meanwhile...

(OOC: XD!)

"Amazing how quickly time can pass by" Rav'una replied with a small shake of her head and a small laugh to follow.

With that Rav'una looked over at Geiser and nodded in agreement before turning to Poi when she made her depart, nodding once more with a "Likewise" accompanied by a smile before watching as Poi scurried off and then turned back to Geiser once she had made her departure.

"I would like that very much so" Rav'una replied with a smile, chuckling a little as she added "Firstly though I will need to clean up a little. I would much rather look presentable for the occasion."

Meanwhile...

(OOC: Well...I...never really thought of that but I guess Derek had one too many ciders? XD!)

Truth is Derek was feeling a little...curious himself with cider being on his brain too and though he proved that Lupronians certainly were very true to their wolf side, as after all they are anthro wolves, they could be very gentle and yet wild when need be. Of course in Derek's case there was something more that seemed to effect the situation.

What ended up happening was Derek found something more than just a night of passion between friends. How Byte felt about it was another story and so Derek wasn't sure if admiting how he really felt was such a good idea. Maybe he'd keep that quiet for the time being.

And indeed it was the least he could do in return for having helped saved his life. The very least. For some having sex with them was probably not exactly the best payback for something like this but for Derek it was a true sign of trust and a proof of how much he trusted her as well as a compliment considering that a male like Derek would only ever make love with someone truly worthy, physically and personality wise. So Byte was lucky, if she considered herself to be so.

"Actually you're the first" Derek responded with a small smile in his expressions, his eyes showing genuine truth in every word. It was surprising to think someone like Derek was...a virgin all this time? Crazy but true. Even if he had fooled around a lot in the past this was the first time anything of this level had happened. And what an experience it was! With Byte pressing up close to him, a warm shiver running comfortably down his back as she touched his his chest, he murred contently with a smile as he held her close, his chin resting on top of her head gently as she moved her head under it. Perfect. That would be the word of choice to describe the situation right now.

It was different though, especially with Byte using her attenae. Though there was something about it he couldn't quite place his finger on. Whatever that was Byte seemed to sense it too though Derek wasn't quite aware of this as unlike Daemun for example and the Psions he wasn't quite as atuned to the emotions of others. Unless Sydonai was up front and alert but even then it was Sydonai doing all the scanning.

He did remember some brief moments during the act when he wasn't quite certain with what was happening but he knew whatever it was he was doing just felt great. But as for his actions during those times...he was rough on details. Maybe he was just being passionate or something, it was hard to say. Not to mention he was too exhausted to really remember much of what he did but the feelings and pleasures throughout the night were easily recalled, no problem.

Maybe all they needed was some rest. Derek didn't want to have anything ruin this moment. It was too perfect.

(ooc - I have a dragon candelabra on my table and I got for it four white candles and one gold (holds 5). My husband said we should get black and red, two of each. I said what about the fourth, should I go gold or white or just leave it? He then said maybe four red and one black, because doing it the other way might scare people, especially the Wiccans, probably the Christians too. Either way, black and white looks cool :)

Murdoc pointed to a closed door that was outside and to the left of the door that led into this little office of sorts. "Psion rest area, we call it. You can crash in there, too. Plenty of space."

-=o=-

Geiser became aware of the fact that he, too, was covered in grease and other machine lubricant. He'd gone to the Eatery in worse condition and considering the nature of the Tir, it wasn't like anyone ever noticed. He had this strange urge to scrub up though.

"We're a mercenary crew," he said, smiling, "no one's gonna care how we look. But if you want I'll take you back first and you can get cleaned up and I'll go bring something back."

-=o=-

(ooc - he's a virgin?! oO I had to read that a few times to see if you meant it was his first time ever or his first time saying that to a girl :P)

Byte whacked Derek on the chest as she pushed back from him. "Get bent!" she exclaimed. That look and that level of sincerity could not be faked. Well either that or Derek was the ultimate con artist. Con artists were all charmers weren't they, able to shmooze their way into anything? There was no doubt Derek was a charmer, but he was too sweet to be a con artist. And too clumsy. He handled tools like a pro, he'd picked up piloting the mech incredibly fast, but no con artist worth their salt would have accidentally dropped incriminating documents right in front of someone even if they were injured. Hell no con artist would have HAD incriminating documents on their person.

"Are you...you're serious?" she was incredulous. There was no way he could possibly be a virgin. Unless he meant he had never had never gone all the way before. Even that seemed impossible to believe, some of the things he did, they were things you learned along the way. "Well. You're fucking amazing." It was an understatement, but she didn't want to fry his synapses by transferring it in raw thought. It hadn't actually occurred to her that he had never gone all the way before, never mind done anything like what they had just done. She moved close to him again, recapturing the perfect snuggle, and yawned.

"I'm gonna be sore tomorrow," she murmured sleepily, her tone playfully accusatory, then she closed her eyes and snuggled quite contentedly, as much passing out as falling asleep.

(OOC: Well in Wicca we only ever use black candles for dark spells and/or we don't really use them in too many rituals because of "dark qualities" more than anything. But they look great as decorations! ^..^ Then again I'm also goth so go figure =P.)

"Will do" Daemun replied with a nod and turn to head out to the Psion rest area but stopped mid-turn. For a moment he stood there as though contimplating something before turning his head to look at Murdoc with another nod. "We'll talk again soon." Daemun noted with a more forgiving mannerism before heading out and to the Psion rest area.

Meanwhile...

"Maybe so" Rav'una replied with that cheeky smirk of hers kicking into gear as she walked up to Geiser and brushed the pase of her index finger gently along his jaw line and to the end of his chin as she continued "But an assassin, unlike a mercenary, cares for her appearence. We may not be so different you and I but the assassin is a more civilized class." She winked at him, her confidence as vibrant as ever, before walking onward to the direction of the change rooms, her tail's end brushing up against the side of Geiser's calf before she hopped down off the ship in one swift and agile flip, landing on her feet into a crouch before standing and continuing on her way, her hips swaying in collected style.

Meanwhile...

(OOC: XD! Plost twist revealed! =P That reaction was classic though, lol! )

"What did I do?" Derek asked with a frown, puzzled and actually a little irritated that he should be smacked over what he assumed was nothing at all. But when he figured what it was all about his expressions gradually eased and shyly he laid on his back with his hands held on his chest, his thumb tips tapping together as his voice sounded more like he was pushing himself to reply than willingly being able to do so.

"Well...unless you include kissing and squeezing the occasional tit at a stripper club as sex then...yeah...I am..."

Byte's compliment almost immediately put any tensions and worries to an immediate halt. It was just the kind of boost Derek needed for his much loved ego to kick back into gear and fuel his confidence but he didn't get too cocky about it. Turning his head to look at Byte with a smile Derek was sincerely, and obviously, very honored to hear that. Not to mentioned relieved. It could have ended up being a whole joke at the end of the day but that kind of compliment was rarely ever given in vain.

"You...you really think so?" Derek smiled, turning his head to look down at his hands again as he further added "I mean..." before then with a pause he turned his head to look Byte again, turning his whole body in turn to press himself close to her as she did so in turn before whispering in her ear a sweet "Thank you" to complete the picture.

"Me too" Derek chuckled before then with a yawn of his own he snuggled up close and was soon enough fast asleep along side Byte. It would have made for a great Kodak moment!

Phoenix stirred slightly as the door to the rest area opened, opening just the outer eyelid of one eye. Seeing Daemun she fully opened both eyes and looked over at him. She was smiling warmly, or at the very least she looked well fed and not interested in a meal for now.

She whistled softly, sounding somewhat like a flute, and telepathically sent a translation at the same time. -Hello.- She looked him over briefly. -Good to see I didn't do too much damage. Or that you heal fast. Or both.-

-=o=-

"I'm not going to disagree with you," Geiser said simply, grinning. He watched Rav'una jump down and let out a soft "Aiiii," before stashing the last of the tools safely in the toolbox with his tail. With great poise and balance quickly learned from constantly crawling over ships while repairing them, Geiser made his way to ground level with minimal use of his still slightly sore but otherwise much better hands.

He entered the change room and kicked off his overalls, pulling his clothes out of his locker and pulling them on. He then picked up the overalls with his tail and lashed them into the giant laundry hamper.

"Finished preening yet, pretty?" he called in Rav'una's general direction.

-=o=-

ooc - it was the most likely one ;) Awww how cute, let em sleep :P Now to deal with the other two groups so we can cut to morning and start getting my Tir fixed! Poor Tir, everyone is going to be so paranoid while it's slower than usual ;)

Daemun bravely entered the rest area without much care in the world but still kept a mental note that there were those resting in the area and so he treaded lightly. At first he didn't notice Phoenix right away until he felt a familiar set of eyes watching him, Stopping he then turn to Phoenix with a simple nod.

He had began to turn to leave her be but that flute like whistle of hers caught his ear and the voice of her translations flowed into his mind. That was the most intriguing part of the whole situation and it certainly grabbed his attention. Turning back to Phoenix, Daemun paused a moment to look at his shoulder, lifting his hand over the still healing area just as he had when Murdoc pointed it out before then lowering his hand and turning to Phoenix, typically hardly changing his expressions at all but keeping his tone calm despite it's natural mannerism.

"So you're the one who saved me from hitting the ground." He began, walking over to Phoenix and pulling up a chair so to sit by her, leaning forward with his arms rested on top his knees as he looked at her and continued this time with a small smirk "You saved a demon's life. So you know what this means, right?"

Meanwhile...

"Wise" Was all Rav'una replied behind a smirk and a quick wink before hopping down off the ship as explained.

Once in the change room Rav'una was more than happy to have those blasted over alls finally off of her and straight into the shower she went. She took her time, allowing the water to run through her fur and flow over her body in small streams and after a good while she finally switched the shower off. Stepping out she shook herself off, drying herself with a towel as best she could (the rest would dry in good time) before slipping on her usual armor and decorative attire. Grooming herself and making herself at least presentable she stepped out just as Geiser had called out to her, resting one hand on her hip, the other dangling at her side casually, and with that look in her eyes she smirked at Geiser as she gave her response.

"Well why do we not allow you to be the judge of that my dear?"

(OOC: Lol, true, true. Hehehe, yeah they're sure gonna need it! And yes, that would be a very good idea. XD! Well maybe someone has a bandaid for the Tir? =P)

Phoenix cocked her head. This time not bothering to talk, she said: -You don't seem the type that dies.- She ruffled her wings, then extended one and brushed a hand carelessly through it, coming up with a few loose feathers. She then regarded him more or less unblinkingly, her inner eyelids blinking once and not really affecting her vision. -At a guess, you think you owe me something.-

-=o=-

Geiser openly appreciated the view, nodding in approval. "There's gonna be a few guys out there wondering how the hell I managed to land you." He smiled. "Don't mind my filth but I don't have a change of clothes here. Ever tried spit roast hopper?" He carefully washed the grease and grit off his hands, minding the healing injuries, and then tentatively offered an arm to Rav'una.

"Even a God can die" Daemun began, adding then with a small shrug "So why not a demon, even one of of such power as of my own?" With a small smirk he then further added with a nod or two "So yeah, you saved my life."

With Phoenix's response Daemun's expressions remained firm yet calm as she gave her response, Daemun then leaning in with one arm rested on his right thigh as he smirked at Phoenix. "It's demon law. Save a demon's life and you'll be rewarded with a favor or bond. Maybe even something else, depending on your actions and decisions. It's not just a choice, it's just how it is. And the fact I know I owe you one. Even if I didn't die I still would have had one hell of an impact and who knows what could have happened then."

Meanwhile...

Though it made her feel cocky and too proud when she teased Geiser that way the approval of things was more than enough to remind her why she continued to do so. It was soothing, like a form of therapy, and so far Geiser had not complained. Plus Rav'una was no tart and knew when and where to be cheeky and when and where to be 'Rav'una the Assassin'.

"Then you can tell them you were lucky enough to catch me with my blade in my holster and my temper at a cooled ease" She replied, her smirk deepening in mischief as she winked at Geiser.

"Roast Hopper?" She inquired then with a small perk of her brow, shaking her head a moment before then continuing "I can not say that I have, no. It sounds positively delightful though!"

OOC: I'm sure if you ask Godzilla nicely he should have a few bandages of his he could spare =P.

Phoenix moved her head slightly, causing the vertical mohawk-like crest of seven fluffy feathers, each tipped with a ball of feathery, downy fluff, to sway gently with the movement. She might have nodded, it was kind of hard to tell as it was just one short movement rather than a definite continuous one. Her void like eyes glistened and seemed to pierce his soul as she looked through him into the mass of colours and energies that construed time.

-Better for you that you didn't hit the ground.- She stretched out. -You probably know about that neverending cyclical war,- she sounded mildly exasperated. -I don't know how long you've been alive for, if you've had to fight it before, but it's coming, and you're going to be involved, like it or not. It's a matter of what you choose to fight for.- She shook her head as she brought her focus back to the here and now. -You want to do something for me, go to sleep. Dream. Remember what really happened, not what your perception and emotions made you think happened.- She crooked a claw towards the bed opposite hers, behind Daemun. It was not quite an order but definitely more than a request.

-=o=-

Impulsively, before he could second guess himself out of the ides, Geisere slipped an arm around Rav'una's waist and hugged her, then led the way out towards the now familiar walk back towards the Atrium. It was not nearly as packed out as it had been earlier, there was a distinct gap in the demographics as a lot of the cider drunk youths had slipped away to "have fun". There were a lot of families about, children dashing around madly playing while babies and toddlers were curled either contented or sleeping against parents, guardians or other random caring adults, while adults chatted. The fires had been damped down to keep the remainder of the hoppers warm rather than cooking them, and seeing as most people had eaten and there was just "the late shift" trickling in to grab a bite, there wasn't exactly a queue. Geiser grabbed himself and Rav'una a plate and hit up one of th e fireplaces. One of the carvers gave them generous portions of tender, delicious smelling meat and a decent serve of roast veges, then Geiser found them a relatively quiet spot on some grass close to one of the rivulets. The roof was open, and the minimal lighting allowed the full glory of the night sky to be seen through the clear glass of the opened dome.

"Hope you like it," Geiser said, before popping a mouthful of the tender meat, the delicious flavours exploding across his tongue. He looked over at Rav'una anxiously, hoping she was enjoying the meal as much as he was.

"The...cyclical war?" Daemun asked with a puzzled tone and a perked brow to match, his expressions slowly changing to a more firm yet collected and calm sort of manner as Phoenix explained that he would be part of some kind of war. "If I was alive then I don't recall it now." Daemun admited though was unable to ignore the fact it did, for some odd reason, sound very familiar. It wasn't until Phoenix mentioned that he would be involved, dispite if he liked it or not, he frowned at this with an obvious dislike toward such a prediction. It was no doubt true but Daemun still had to ask "And what makes you so sure I'll be involved? Another war? We just finished a damn battle..."

Daemun did his best to remain calm and looked over at the bed behind him, turning in his seat to do so before turning back to face Phoenix with a small smirk, his version of a smile, as he shook his head briefly with a wicked little chuckle.

"You know I can't just accept that. Not according to the laws and-" Daemun suddenly stopped and perked a brow as he suddenly realized what was said after Phoenix pointed out he should sleep if he wanted to do something for her. "Wait...what?"

Congratulations Phoenix. You just confused Daemun. That's a task in itself yet alone to have grabbed his attention as quickly as that. Seriously!

Meanwhile...

"Oh my..." Rav'una giggled, hugging Geiser back in return before going along with him down said familiar path. Once at the Atrium it was quite a relief to find that there were so little groups left as it gave it a little more of a sense of privacy. Rav'una had to admit though seeing all those children running about did get her thinking. But she soon enough frowned at the thought and gave a brief shake of her head as she thought better of the idea for the time being. She was more interested in eating than anything right now and having some quality time with Geiser.

With a nod of thanks she took the plate and her generous serving, with a nod and a "Thank you" to the one serving the deliciously scented meat and proceeded to follow Geiser to where he thought was best for them to be seated. Sitting herself beside him she couldn't help but look upward to gorgious relaxation of the night sky above them, for a moment there distracted by its beauty before then finally turning her attention to Geiser with a smile.

"If by that you mean your choice of seating I say my only regret is not being able to be outside to enjoy it more. But with what we have I can say only thank you." With a small laugh she continued "But as for the meat, well it smells lovely but I will have to taste test it now."

Rav'una had shown once before that despite her lady assassin like personality and mannerism her eating habits remained as wild as she was also known to be. But around Geiser she felt suddenly shy about showing that side of herself, taking small bites and chewing with her mouth closed, despite feeling a little awkward about it and not exactly proving she was taught too many "lady" table manners back home. The best way to describe would be like watching an Amazon eating propper for the first time. You could see the attempt in the actions and that the intents were good but it was certainly not something in the lines of being used to. Still, she tried, feeling the need to particularly polite around Geiser and that she needed to impress him some way. Regardless of having done so already or not.

Phoenix chirruped an ascending string of notes that could be interpreted as laughter at Daemun's confused look. She looked searchingly at him. -You know what I'm talking about.- If the demon was old enough it had to remember that "dark vs "light" war, a petty argument that had been going on since forever. Phoenix thought it was pretty stupid herself, but apparently the conflict was needed for something. It didn't matter, if he didn't know about it, it was going to come to his attention sooner or later. She partially unfurled her wings and then refolded them neatly against her back, reclining back down on the bed, remaining propped on one arm. -You work according to your law, I work according to mine. According to mine, I am now responsible for your actions, just on the offchance I've doomed the universe by not letting you die. Therefore, I would like you to deal with that black box in your head so that when you get thrown into deciding what you're going to be fighting for, it might be a well informed and balanced decision.- She flattened out completely. -You do know how to get into the Dreamscape, right?-

The demon felt big. And powerful. She figured it hadn't been kicking around this plane for that long in the grand scheme of things if it had the standard memory blocks in place. That particular black box she wanted him to deal with though, that was a lot more recent, and had happened in the current lifetime. All she'd managed to work out in the non-invasive surface skim she'd done, it had something to do with Strike and one of his captains. Flak, the quiet one. It seemed like a lot of his rage stemmed from events that had occurred involving them, and that his perception had been somewhat skewed at the time, and if he could work out what had actually happened rather than what he thought had happened, it might dissipate a lot of the rage.

Or at least give him much better if not full control over it. Some demons seemed to like hanging on to their rage. Emotions were a nice power boost, even if using them was somewhat hazardous at best.

-=o=-

Geiser had table manners about the same level as your average Barbarian and it showed, although in his case he was less concerned about trying to impress. The occasions where he did head out into nearby populated areas on quests for parts, he avoided snobby restaurants for a reason, preferring food that was flavourful and cheap.

"No need to be polite around me, babe," Geiser said without really thinking, "you're making me feel bad." As if to emphasise the point, although it was done equally unintentionally, Geiser stabbed a large hunk of meat with his fork and proceeded to eat it off the fork rather than doing the "civil" thing and slicing off little bite sized bits with the knife.

"No, really I don't" Daemun began with a shake of his head, answering in all pure honesty as always but no sooner had he gave his response did it suddenly hit him what she was talking about. Or at least one of the things she could be refering to as far as he could figure out. "Oh wait, you mean that big war between the good and the bad? That big ol' pointless "battle of the greater" when everyone should have known to just get along? Yeah. Don't ask me how I know about it since I wasn't there but I guess you-know-who was." With a shrug Daemun added "Could be a blended memory thing. That happens when you bond with any kind of demon as much as I have. I'm sure he was there, no doubt about it. But the memories are pretty rough at best. After all, they weren't my memories to begin with. I guess you can say in a way they are now."

Her response to him in regards to his laws and such didn't sit very well with Daemun but fortunately he was patient in such matters. After all if this was her law he had to respect this and so it would be a mutual agreement that the two would have to leave it at that. There wasn't a great deal more that could be done. But still he had to give his response which began with a single nod, paced at a normal speed, before he explained in a firm yet calm tone "That be so but I still have to do something in return at least. It's just the way it is. And to be honest I...I kind of feel I owe you one anyway." Daemun sure was stubborn. That was both one of his strengths and one of his flaws. "Wait..." Daemun once again perked a brow curiously and seemed to forget about what he was just saying as he was obvious distracted by one particular thing Phoenix mentioned. "Black box?" With a small frown and a raise of his inde finger Daemun asked in a serious manner "Is that an insult?..." Actually despite its seriousness it probably could have been pretty amusing to think he would come to that conclusion at all.

The question asked was one met with a brief moment of silence as Daemun had to actually think about it for a moment. He wasn't sure if he ever tried that before but he didn't doubt he could or had, if so. "Not sure" Daemun began with a shake of his head, looking at Phoenix as he continued "I don't recall ever trying or doing so if I ha- Wait..." With a few nods as he suddenly remembered something Daemun calmly added "Actually I think I have at least once or twice. But if by that you mean entering dreams and the minds of others then yeah, I've done that." With a smirk Daemun added "Especially the minds of others. Always been a fan of playing mind games before I make the final blow."

Phoenix was right. Dealing with this "black box" of his and with what happened in the past may well desepate the rage but it would only be to a certain extent. Without this and some control to it not only would the demon inside be completely powerless but there was also no telling what would happen to Daemun. The screwed up irony of it all was that he held onto a lot of this anger and rage on purpose, to fuel himself and his ability as well as the demon within. Of course that wasn't to say there could not be some alternative. After all technology these days have gone a far leap forward from what it used to be. Perhaps if the same kind of energy rage is fueled by could somehow be harnessed it could be made into a fuel source for Daemun. Of course this was also an option with no guarantees or even a possibility to go with that. Who knows what the solution here could be but there was one thing particularly that he could never forgive himself for. The troops he had lost. This was a deep cut that healed into a nasty scar, the kind of scar you always shamefully hide away so that no one else could see it. The kind that you can't ignore and that you are always reminded of no matter what you say or do. It was a part of why he held so much rage within himself. Though in another streak of horrid irony if it had never happened Daemun may have never bonded with the demon inside. It was still hard to say if they were seperate entities or not exactly though. At least nowadays anyway.

Meanwhile...

"Oh..." Rav'una felt herself suddenly feel really embaressed as she had failed to really notice just how civil she was trying to be, lowering her meat with a bit of a laugh as she lowered her gaze, trying not to blush, before then looking up at Geiser with a little smiling smirk. "Well in that case..." Rav'una replied and with that did the natural thing and bit right into the hunk of meat, holding it by its end with one hand like an Amazon or female Barbarian type and ripped a nice clean chunk straight off the side, chewing it with far less care about manners than before.

"Who needs manners anyway, right?" Rav'una said through a mouth full of food, trying not to grin too much so to keep the food in her mouth and keep Geiser from having to see what the mashing meat in her mouth.

-Yes, but do it to yourself instead of someone else. Perhaps with less mind games, but you know, whatever makes you happy.- Her eyes showed a smirk, even if all her beak did was look like she might now be contemplating shredding something. -Your demon memories would be hazy at best to begin with, happens when you form a symbiosis. Stops your mortal brain from frying and killing both of you until you synch properly. Then you start losing the blocks. The black box is a self imposed memory block. Sometimes other people like to use it to give you a hard time.- She seemed to add on the latter comment almost as an afterthought. She blinked her inner eyelids. -Are you worried about what might happen if you looked or would that be an insult?-

-=o=-

"Much better," Geiser said, happier seeing her more comfortable. He shoved more food into his gob and sat enjoying the moment. The celebration, out of place as it may have seemed to anyone from the rest of civilisation who had gone through smilar experiences, was exactly what eeryone needed to wind down and relx a little, and temporarily forget they were down an engine and had a lot of damaged plating on the mech bay side, and would need to top somewhere for longer than they were used to stopping in order to repair the engine.

And while people were quite well aware of the trade runs they had going with the Mercurites, Geiser couldn't help but wonder how many others were also wondering how much it was going to cost them bringing in more Mercurites to help with the repairs to the plating. He hadn't been able to survey the damage himself yet, seeing as he'd been called in to work on the Morning Star, but the report had them at stationary for about three months or so if they had to do the repairs themselves, and about half that if they had more Mercurite techies to help. It was still a long time considering they didn't really stop for longer than a week, two if Hunter had found a particularly good food source. Even if the mercenaries landed jobs that took longer than they were stopping for they would call in so they could catch up if the Tir if it was moving away from them.

He exhaled softly and returned his concentration to the diminishing amount of yummy food he was eating, and the very pleasant company he was keeping.

"But that's not nearly as much fun..." Daemun smirked in a half-joking tone, in his own ways easing any tensions before his expressions gradually returned their normal standards. Though hardly too joyful his expressions at least did show signs of that he was listening and calm about what he heard. "Makes sense..." Daemun nodded in understanding to the whole response of which Phoenix had explained but this question she had for him caused him to actually have to stop and think about it for a moment. Daemun became suddenly hessitant to even want to know the answer to this and with another frown he turned his gaze away from Phoenix and shot it off to a side to pierce a whole in some other random object instead so to speak.

"I...I hate to admit it but I'm...well I'm kind of scared to know what I might find. In case you haven't noticed my past isn't exactly all cheries and pie..."

For a moment he remained silent, Phoenix's words echoing in his mind and practically molding the words together before it stopped, Daemun in turn looking at Phoenix with a firm yet non-threatening tone and expression as he had but only one thing to say.

"Show me" He began "Before I go to get some rest I want you to show me at least where I need to start. You know what I mean."

Meanwhile...

Rav'una simply smirked as she chewed her food, swallowing to make room for more and with even less of a care than before she chomped viciously at the meat like a wild cat, tearing a large enough chunk out of it that would be more than enough proof that if all else failed and her weapons were to be taken away her teeth alone sure could leave a very lethal wound behind if need be. The fact she had chipped some of the bone too without having hardly noticed had to make one wonder just how strong her jaw and teeth were too.

But intimidation was not something on Rav'una's mind. It was such a great and relaxing moment and certainly refreshing from all the comotion that had happened to the Tir before. Here she was, the supposedly cold blooded assassin with a battle hardened heart, now sitting by the one she fell so deeply and so quickly in love with and rather than a lioness' temprament instead she was as placid as your average house cat. Yes, even purring which meant she was really happy and relaxed.

While Geiser meanwhile thought about the costs of repairs and whatever else happened to going through his mind at that moment Rav'una meanwhile had a thought of her own in progress. It was something she had been considering even before Geiser and her met but it was one of those situations that needed the right individual and the right time to even ask for it. 'No, it's far too soon...' She thought to herself with a shake of her head, suddenly silent as she couldn't seem to push away the nudging thoughts in the back of her mind. Which was irritating as Rav'una hated defeat, even if it was against her own thoughts and self.

Phoenix made a clicking noise in her throat, her version of a chuckle. At his request though, she looked at him oddly, head slightly tilted. -You need to be asleep to start with. Start somewhere safe and comfortable, then go from there.- She paused. -I think you already know how to do it, but if you want some guidance, I can jump in and help out. Obviously there's stuff you have to do on your own etcetera-

-=o=-

(ooc - edit your character sheet post and add Rav'una, I'm having to remember too much stuff on a very unreliable memory ;)

He heard that.

Looking over confirmed that Rav'una had indeed chipped some bone and didn't seem to have noticed. Now if he'd been a cider driven sex crazed youth, he might have made a mental note not to let her go down on him. As it was, being more mature and still uncertain about the depths of his own feelings and slightly intimidated by how fast things had been progressing, that thought didn't even cross his mind. What he did do was reach over, almost without thinking, and run his hand along Rav'una's smooth, luxurious mane as he listened to the gentle, soothing purring that sounded like it was emanating from somewhere deep in her lungs.

He idly picked at the remnants of his meal with his fork, still enjoying the burst of after flavours. He must be getting old, he was suddenly very tired. Contented too, for the first time in a long time. It was almost alien, so barely remembered that particular feeling was. It was nice, though.

"I know that" Daemun replied with his hands raised as though stopping Phoenix there at the end of explination, his head bowed with a his eyes shut just for a moment before opening his eyes and lowering his hands as he looked back up to Phoenix again he exhaled deeply as he explained "It's just...been a while since I've done it. So yeah, I'll need some guidance."

Standing from where he had been seated he proceeded over to his bed, laying down and getting himself comfortable and shutting his eyes to prepare for sleep. "Come on over whenever you're ready. Don't worry, I'll make sure it's safe for you" Daemun noted before soon enough dozing off to sleep, laying his back with one arm propped up behind his head and the other laying lazily over his chest.

Meanwhile...

(OOC: Oh yeah! I completely forgot about doing that! Sorry about that, I'll get to it ASAP. That way I can also remember all the details too. I just hope I can remember enough myself to actually make a bio for her, XD!)

Damn. Rav'una forgot about how even a thought could easily be read around these parts. She had to keep that in mind for the future but for now it seemed she was busted. Though she didn't quite know it herself. Not as yet.

In truth Rav'una, despite her type of mannerisms and her rank, didn't want to rush things herself for more or less the same reasons Geiser had. She was also intimidated by the quickened pace of things and if she had to choose for one thing to be slowed down it was that very thought that rushed through her mind. Rav'una assumed it unnoticed but needless to say Geiser now knew. One of the advantages and disadvanges of being mated to a martian mouse. They can share thoughts.

His touch however eased her like nothing else she had experienced before. She had never been touched that way before, not so caringly and gentle as Geiser ran his hand through her mane. Her purrs grew a little louder as she smiled at Geiser, for a moment not realizing just how loudly she happened to be purring and when she deep she blushed deep. Not that she could really help it or made a great deal of effort to stop it. Lucky Geiser was seeing the softer side of Rav'una. That alone was a blessing not just a privillage.

Rav'una didn't want this to end. But she too was getting tired and like Geiser blamed it on her age. Finishing off her meal with a yawn, stretching herself out in a very cat-like manner, even arching her back as she did so, she shook it off briefly before lookiing at Geiser again with a small laugh silently slipping through her nose.

"Can you believe it? I am tired already and the night has only just began" With a small smirk she jokingly poked at Geiser with her index finger in the side of his chest as she playfully acused "I blame you for this you I hope you realize" with another little chuckle.

Phoenix nodded once, then closd her outer eyelids.

Dreamscape

Phoenix hovered on the periphery of Daemun's Mindspace, waiting for him to make an opening for her to come through. Unlike Starzone and Trajectory who changed form rather dramatically when they were on the Dreamscape, Phoenix didn't look any different, aside from maybe appearing a bit brighter energy wise, and inexplicably her wings and tail left a sparkling "jetstream" with rainbow shimmer when she moved quickly.

She drifted lazily, circling Daemun, assuming that he would be able to see or sense her but on the prowl for an opening in the unlikely event he couldn't and just made one for her to enter by. It didn't look any more dangerous that what she was used to in there, but mental barriers were funny things. They could make a place teeming with potential death appear to be perfectly calm and tranquil and safe and vice versa, and all sorts of wonderful combinations in between. It was all entirely dependant on the nature of the person the mind was in.

-=o=-

(ooc - bio not strictly necessary, just useful. Also, as far as I know, the mice can't automagically read minds, they need to have antennae contact head or other antennae. My Psions can long distance project without needing contact but it only works with people they know very well, Streak though still needs to have direct contact with Starzone to project anything back to her :)

Geiser initially freaked when the purrs increased in volume, it took him a second or so to recognise the sound as one the Pleaideans made when they were feeling happy or satisfied. Hoping Rav'una worked on the same principal, he continued the motion.

He chuckled as well when she mentioned being tired. "Sounds like we're in the same boat. I don't think they would have had time to assign you a bolthole yet with the place going on high alert and all. You can crash in with me f you like." He internally winced, that probably sounded entirely too seedy. "Or in the medlkab, if you want. There's always a few spare beds there."

Daemun's mind was like stepping right into the middle of Purgatory. A long forgotten place somewhere between Heaven and Hell with darkness having overcome much of what once was far purer, staining the ash laden grounds of what appeared to be a desert-like warzone. Even Daemun's dreams were something spawned out of darkness and yet in some twisted, bizzaro way it still managed to maintain some level of beauty to it. The skies above where twisting and twirling steadily with darkened clouds backgrounded in crimson. Typical stuff but even the clitches were eerie when it came to Daemun.

At the same time however if you could at all find beauty in such a scene this held that too. Somehow. In the middle of it all was a structure of some kind, perhaps once a building that could have once been something magnificent but now was ruined by whatever impacts over time it had endured. And there Daemun sat upon a throne, it too having suffered greatly from damage, and seeing Pheonix he stood and calmly walked his way down toward her.

"So...you made it." Daemun began, his voice even more so eerie in this kind of world, his atire pretty much the same as what he usually was wearing only on a more darker level, if at all possible. "This is just a very small taste of what you'll find. But the deeper you go, the worse it gets." He then further explained, his right hand up in a gesture of presentation to what was around him before then lowering it steadily to his side as he continued "You decide from here what you want to do. If there's something specific you want, we're probably best to go straight to that. If you need more info, likewise option is advised."

"So, what do you do?"

Meanwhile...

(OOC: Point taken =P. Figured as much though. And you're right, only through touch with their antennae can they share thoughts and such.)

In a worst case scenario if Geiser needed confirmation that what he was doing was certainly more than just fine he only needed to take a look at Rav'una's expressions. The more he did his thing the more she drifted into relaxation mode, purring loudly and at first trying to supress that as it was actually rather embaressing but in the end she just let herself pur away. After all it's not like she could really help it. The more she tried to hold it back the worst it was for her. So why fight it, right? Exactly.

"The Med Lab?" Rav'una suddenly questions, her purring coming to a sudden halt as her ears perked up and she turned to Geiser with a look on her face that seemed to question how he figured that was a good idea in comparison to option two, her brow raised a little and her head lowering so she was looking at him from the tops of her eyes and at first it seemed like she was a little insulted. But then that smirk of hers rolled on into her expressions to assure Geiser she wasn't at all mad and lifting her head and leaning herself against him she continued "When I have the option of being with you? I hardly believe I would be choosing the Med Labs over that my love."

Phoenix landed lightly on the ground not too far in front of where Daemun was seated on the blasted throne, the shimmering trail she left fading off in the burnt twilight. She glanced around at the somewhat bleak surroundings. It was peaceful, even if it was depressing.

"I like yours better," she said at length, the Dreamscape helpfully translating her avien tongue into something Daemun understood, "some aspects of this place, the screaming starts grating after a while." She looked around, then hopped over to a convenient gap in the wall and peered out over the desolate landscape, looking for any indication of a black box. Problem was the damn things could look like anything. Darkmoon's had been easy, it was just a massive black sphere with an almost greasy, cancerous feel to it, dark blue tendrils originating from it spiking aspects of his being no matter how hard he tried to cut it off completely.

"If you feel up to it, try looking in the black box," she suggested. She vaguely wondered if he might be literally sitting on it, or if he had placed it in some remote location as far from his immediate space as he could get it. People varied.

-=o=-

Geiser snapped his hand back as if he had been burnt again with Rav'una's sudden movement. Bloody hell but he was a hopeless bundle of nerves. He couldn't even organise his thoughts enough to form a coherent sentence trying to explain that he thought that it seemed like he was some seedy old man trying to get laid by inviting her back to his for the night, even though he had done it with honourable intentions of providing a relatively comfortable and slightly more private place to crash than the medlab and he had no idea how she felt about anything really...

He shook his head once, hard, to clear the confusing thoughts, his ears flapping slightly with the violence of the motion, and smiled at the lovely feline stretched out before him. "Let's go then, before we fall asleep here," he suggested, his tone light hearted and joking as he rolled to his feet and extended a hand to her.

Dreamscape:

In this world Daemun could take on any appearence and was, in a sense, as close to a God as it gets. Being powerful enough as it is in the real world this was a place where such power increased dramatically. Of course likewise could be said about Phoenix so Daemun was not about to assume he had complete control of what could happen next. Not that he intended to bring Phoenix any harm of course as she was here to help, not cause further damage. But had it been someone with the intent of harm then they would be best to stay out of Daemun's head and well and truly away from him, no matter who or what they were.

Daemun watched Phoenix like a Demon King sitting back upon his throne, that eye of his seeming to stand out particularly so against the dark contrast surounding him as he seemed to peer into the Phoenix's very soul.

"I see your intentions are pure" He began, continuing after a brief pause "No surprise coming from someone as yourself. The screams are not all bad. Just those of what once was that stings deep are hardest to get used to."

The mentioning of the 'black box' caused Daemun to pause for a moment before he responded with a serious expression but not one of threat "Very well. The choice is yours Phoenix. There's a reason I built this throne here...And I think you know what the answer to that is. So..." Daemun stood from his throne, stepping down from it and turning to it with a gesture toward it as he looked at Phoenix and continued "If it hasn't been moved the box is beyond a path but that won't be revealed until that throne is moved. Thing is I can't move it myself. Someone else has to. I wanted it that way so I would never be tempted to ever have to go that dark place. Before you do anything you need to know I can't tell you what may happen next. Do what you got to do to save yourself if need be."

"When you're ready..."

Meanwhile...

Rav'una certainly had a way of toying with emotions sometimes and she could pick them out rather easily just by one's body language. Geiser was obviously nervous but she tried to ease those nerves by being more leniant with him and keeping her tone and own body language eased and helpful to one with shaken nerves. Despite all that however she still managed to maintain her usual personality but in a far more pleasant and attractive way than what most had the misfortune of experiencing.

"I absolutely agree" Rav'una replied with that smirk still ever present, sitting up to allow Geiser to stand and when he offered to help her up at first she hessitated, only because of his injuries. But after a quick look at his hands Rav'una was pretty certain he could start to hold things by now and with a grateful smile she took his hand with a surprisingly gentle grip.

"Thank you sir" She smiled with a nod. A pleasant, loving smile at that which yes Rav'una was capable of and quite easily so. Though she didn't need to prove that to anyone else but herself in this scenario.

He possibly was quite literally sitting on it. She didn't believe for a second that he couldn't move it. She did however fully believe that he was fully convinced that he couldn't move it. She didn't give any indication of having heard the dire warning but she had and paid it due mind. Black boxes were often built around dark places. Some believed that such things should never again see the light of day. Phoenix was one of those ones that believed such things needed to be dealt with and moved on from so aspects of personality weren't retarded, or problems produced resulting from it.

Phoenix edged closer to the throne, circumnavigating it, studying it intently. When she had completed a round, she moved back to a certain spot, then moved towards it. Tentatively, she reached a hand out and placed a balled up fist against the throne. It thrummed beneath her hand, and she felt a very slightly greasy feel. Her crest flattened out backwards, then resumed its normal, upright appearance. She opened up her hand and applied a small amount of energy. The pedestal wasn't exactly thrilled to be mobilised but it didn't seem to be fighting her either. Still, she opted for the slow and steady approach.

-=o=-

Once they were both up, Geiser almost automatically put his arm around her again, but this time he didn't fear for his life when doing so.

Geiser had a single bolthole much like Derek's, consisting of one bedroom with a double bed, a small bathroom and an open plan living area. The furniture was somewhat minimalist but the essentials were there and it was comfortable and only slightly untidy, contrary to what seemed to be the stereotype of the messy, disorganised or just plain lazy/slobby bachelor the universe over.

"Welcome to my humble abode," Geiser said calmly, after shutting the door behind Rav'una. He quickly scooped up the small pile of laundry waiting to be sorted on the small couch and moved them to the room, dumping them in a corner of the cupboard. "Can I get you anything?" he inquired, re-emerging not long after and heading into the kitchen to finish off the breakfast dishes from this morning. Damn if he'd known he was going to be bringing such impressive company home he would have cleaned up.

Dreamscape:
Daemun meanwhile stood a short distance away from Phoenix and the throne, watching carefully like a guardian and waiting. Even he wasn’t sure what to expect but he hoped this would be easier than expected.

Once the throne was move it revealed beneath it a slab of onyx the size of the throne’s base, carved upon its top a series of symbols ancient and strange. A few stones at the top end of the slab slipped beneath the surface, opening a two brick opening to what looked like black blood. From its center formed twisted black spirals that solidified the further it grew, twisting into a kind of hold for something about chest high. A wicked looking thing indeed. After the top ends molded up into a flat surface from the middle of this emerged a dagger, emerging out as though it were born from the very tar of darkness, the thick, tar-like matter slipping cleanly from the entire dagger leaving behind a finely crafted tool.

“Offer what flows as fluent as thought...and to you the doors of memories shall open” whispered a voice, wicked and astral in its tone but eerily soothing and trusting.

Meanwhile...

Rav’una felt far more trusting toward Geiser than ever before, happily and willingly accepting the hold and help to get back up on her feet.

“There are few gentlemen left in the universe these days” Rav’una comment with a loving smile, looking up at Geiser as she complimented “It is a blessing to receive such kindness from you my special gentlemouse.”
Walking into Geiser’s bolthole Rav’una didn’t seem too bothered by the mess though the fuss he was making over it did amuse her. Though she did her best to hide it behind her smirk, walking in and turning to Geiser with a hand on her hip and the other held out in a matching gesture as she replied “A glass of water would be fine thank you” with a smile.

“And will you calm down my love?” She then added with a little laugh “You are fussing an awful lot over me”
Geiser seemed to somehow bring out the softer and more feminine side of Rav’una. Perhaps it was the love strike but in any case Geiser was lucky in that sense and Rav’una was more than lucky to have Geiser in her life at all.

(ooc - sorry for being erratic, we're getting ready to go to Christmas Island on Monday and need to get everything done etc before then :)

DreamScape

Phoenix had been busy studying the symbols, a far distant memory pricking the extreme edges of her conscious thought. She didn't want to chase too hard in case she frightened it away, but it didn't seem too interested in approaching a recognisable state either. It didn't matter either way when the structure erupted out of the onyx slab. She moved backwards, crest flattening and wings flaring slightly, watching it carefully on the offchance it attacked.

The dagger it left behind after its dramatic entrance was a very nice piece of work. Phoenix cocked her head, listening to the voice, and then looked over at Daemun. Looked like one of them was supposed to cut themselves, or something. She was quite happy to do it, not like it would have been the first time, but they were his memories, he was probably the better option.

-=o=-

Geiser dug out a clean glass and filled it with water, handing it to Rav'una. He flushed slightly as she gently chided him about making a fuss, running his hand over one ear and back behind his head in an embarrassed gesture. "Well," he said at length, "you're worth fussing over." He finished the last of the dishes and stacked them, then took a breath and turned to Rav'una. "Sorry," he said, "just that...I really like you," he finished lamely. And he wanted her to continue liking him like she seemed to.
