Looky looky! New show info...

I dunno how many of you are in the Biker Mice club on Deviantart so I thought I'd post this here for those of you who aren't... http://www.deviantart.com/view/24591345/

It's about the new show! YAY! And if I read correctly they've got ALL the original cast!!!! How unbelievably amazing is that?! It's definately a relief... I knew Rob was doing Throttle again so I was happy enough but I must admit I don't think anyone else could be Vinnie, Modo or Charley. I'm also loving the sentence that says "There's definately a more female presence in their world as well." Good news for Charley I should hope!

Is anyone else having issues with the new Throttle design tho? I'm really disliking those glasses. I'm thinking I need to hear the voice with it to get the whole effect tho. On a happier note tho I LOVE that they're scrawnier than they were in the original series... it's how I usually draw my Throttle anyway :D I hope Modo's still buff tho, it suits him.

EEEEEEE!! This makes me so excited! :D *fangirly squeeling* I hope this'll boost the show's popularity some more so we'll see the original on DVD sometime soon.... my vcr has begun eating tapes afterall and I won't dare put my biker mice anywhere near the thing now so I need a new medium. :P hehe

No, you're not the only one having issues with his design - assuming that it is like that he will appear up in the new series. However, if this is what they will look in the new series, then I'm asking myself what they've been doing since obviously they have lost some weight. They looked respectful in the old series, but this... well if this is what they will look like, then I'm disappointed. Maybe it works better for the female characters... but not on the male ones...

That's my preliminary opinion.

Okay, my break is nearly over, but my quick thought...

Throttle looks awfull, really. And vinnie, hmmm... reasonable, I liked them better with more muscles. Good to hear the voices are the same though! :)

And CGI? *sighs* I wished they wouldn't. For example in the newer spiderman series you could notice the CGI quite easily. I sure hope they make the bikes appear good.

I Like Vinnie. It's what I expected of the new designs. If you look at the character designs for most of the shows on TV right now. They are all a little scrawny and not 'super steriod muscels' like they were back then.

I am however greatly relived they didn't 'toon' it too much. I'd hate to see the mice go into the Anime style strickly. I have nothing against them.
But can anyone else picture BMFM in Pokemon style? YUCK!

Throttle looks like a chick.
I know that's a strap over his check but it really should be lighter than it is, kinda looks like part of the vest. (I am so glad they kept that)
But what is with the hair?
I kinda like the glasses, alien design, yet a Scott Summers quality.

The belts are awesome!

Mmm I agree I hope Modo is still big and muscular.

hey, anyone knotice their missing front teeth?

YIPPY!!!! NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!! *hugs nearby cat* I'd hug a mouse, but their still pinkies. ^_^ :D :) :D

I don't like their new looks :(. And I'm with Vinnie, I hope that they don't mess up the bikes (or anything else) with the CGI.

And what is with the missing teeth! That's just wrong! They're MICE for Pete's sake!

End rant. For now.

Eventhough I like seeing the mice more muscular, I don't really dislike these designs. I agree with Whipblade, they are more of this time. But a few more musculs wouldn't hurt. ^_^. They're also a bit more futuristic. The guns and Throttles specs look spacier. B)

I don't like the idea of using CGI for the bikes. It didn't work for the new Spiderman series. I watched a few episodes of that and it was way to obvious. Hopefully they will make it better for the bikes.

I totally love that the original cast is back!!!

*starts looking for the Bikermice themesong that's has to be around somewhere*

Great news that the original voices are there, but yeah, I like ORIGINAL look more than the new one.

But we do have to keep in mind that we grew up in a different era and when being smaller, you experience things differently.

Even with just a few years difference I can already feel how others have other opinion/tastes for certain things. Since Biker Mice from Mars was originally made more then ten years ago ofcourse it would get different to get enough attention for the rest.

Even though I was disappointed with seeing Throttle, and ofcourse Vinnie (my favorite of the trio), they didnt screw up totally to say it bluntly. And in my own mind I could always rerun those new episodes with their old appearences in my dreams.

Funny btw that that picture on the right has the same initials as this place.

Anyway...

I wonder how old they will be in this new series, but they feel more teens/younger then in the old series.

Im thrilled to hear that there will be more appearences of the other good guys, also more female attention. I sure hope to see more of Carbine. She deserves a big part and nice viewpoint too. Most sadly only known her from 'Back to Mars' where she was a bit more bitchy to our bros.

Can't wait till I hear that awesome voice-acting for Vinnie *big grin*

I think they're making a huge mistake if they suddenly decide to draw the characters like anorectic teenies armed to their teeth - especially when they should be older by now. Talking about teeth... where's the classic buck teeth? Ain't no mice without buck teeth.

They should definitely keep their original looks from the previous series and maybe change some details like the clothing since clothes always changes sooner or later. However, I have kind of hard to see Throttle's glasses suddenly change into those that he wore on that scanned page - especially when Stoker gave them to him once.

Changing their look from what they looked 10 years ago to this will make it tough for us who has been with ever since the very first beginning to fully identify with the characters as we have already become familiar with their old appearances and lived with that during all these years. Those who will be introduced to the new episodes will learn to identify the characters after what they will look like now and that in turn will create some problems as there will be two generations of BMFM fans - the old generation and the new.

So personally I think it's utterly shit that/if they decide to suddenly change the way the characters are drawn. To me it doesn't make sense that a bunch of characters that were originally drawn as muscular suddenly turns out to look younger and a lot weaker. It will only make the characters look cheap and take away their personality. Kiddie-looking characters toting weapons, riding bikes and pulling war stories and adult like jokes just won't work.

Hopefully, what we saw on that scanned page was just something drawn specifically for it and not that the characters will look like that in the new series and if they are supposed to be drawn similarly as what we saw on that page, I sure hope that they will make them older and add a bit more charisma to them and make the old generation of fans feel a bit more familiar with what the creators gave to them 10-12 years ago.

Guess that's it... for now...

I don't find their new looks that bad.
But Vinnies arms are a bit too thin in my opinion. And they definetly have to add front teeth. They look like something this way, but not like mice. And those glasses don't look good on Throttle. I don't know why, I just don't like them as much as I liked the old ones.

I'm always a little wary when shows mix classical and cg animation. If it's not done well it really takes away from the piece as a whole. I hope they don't half ass it just cuz it's easier.

I was so perturbed by Throttle's makeover that I didn't even notice the buck teeth were missing... that explains part of what was bothering me tho.

SC - I don't think this is supposed to be a continuation of the original series. It's a new one altogether so they wouldn't actually be any older and Throttle's glasses could still be from Stoker, just a different design.

As for them being younger looking... I don't think that really matters... they're gonna have the same voices and the personality and charisma comes from those voices. I for one am gonna wait til I can hear them as well as see them before I pass my final judgement. The voice acting was always the best part of the series for me anyway.

Just saw the new look for the bros. On one hand, I don't mind the scrawny builds too much. I guess the animators were going for a more "realistic" look to avoid making them look like steroid addicts. :P But on the other hand...I want their buck teeth back. They looked good with the buck teeth.

We could always give word to Rick that we wanted them to keep up with the original appearances. If not have them at their original size, then at least just a bit more buff. They kinda almost look like stick figures. Or maybe it's just the angel the image.

But I'm glad they're coming soon. DId I hear right? Spring 2006? Hooray! ::sets schedule:: As long as it's weekends when I can watch it, hooray for me. XD

You know, I didn't even notice the front teeth were missing. And I always thought they looked a little TOO buff in the original series---after all, they come from a planet with gravity that's LESS than Earth's; it makes more sense that they'd be thinner. Besides, that pumped-up look they had earlier was popular then, but it was popular on a lot of live actors, too, and it set a lot of guys to abusing steroids to try to look like that.

Anyway, I think Throttle looks WAY cool now. I love his new hairstyle, and the glasses are just too cool for words. And Vinnie always was the skinny one of the three, even with the old buff look, so, in proportion to Throttle, at least, his new look is right. Too bad the blurb in DeviantArt didn't show Modo. Love to see what he looks like.

Wow they're no longer on steroids. They need an anatomy check coz they look like they've gone bishi anime, but I'm quite happy with the fact they're not ubermusculatured P It could just be coz I haven't seen the series or anything to do with it in forever, but Throttle looks like he had his hair changed slightly in style and colour, I can't see much of a difference other than that.

And I think that pose with the gun slung casually across his shoulders in very Vinnie P

I agree about Vinnie's pose, but I think that somebody should feed them and get them some dentures. And send Throttle over to Lenscrafters - I'll even give him a coupon! Lord knows they send enough of them to me.

Sure they ain't having anorexia? (or however it is spelled) But saying about their background about the bad happenings on Mars would give these more slender appearence more sence.

But I feel I should be gratefull for getting this far anyway. Wouldn't have guessed a year ago or so it would come back, new and updated.

I'm wondering how teh villians will develope. It's a pity not to see Limbuger. He was stupid, evil and twisted but fun to watch.

Good points being brought up in this thread. I'm amazed that they didn't ask for our opinions in the very first place since I think with what has been brought up in this thread so far could've changed the upcoming series radically.

Anyway, it's their creation, their ideas - they have the final word and definite judgement how they want things to be.

I'm still voting for their old looks and just I mentioned before, it would make it a lot easier for the old generation of fans to identify with them and find some continuity in the story. I think this is a terrific way to ruin a great concept that became very popular. You should never change what is working, but improve it. This is, however, more of a radical change than improvement.

What Marsmouse wrote doesn't make me sense at all... since Mars is a planet with about 1/3 the surface of the earth. So it has about the same amount of land as earth has dry land. Mars has a gravity of 0.38g, earth has 1g. At 0.38g human beings probably live with no side effect like bone shrinking.

Note: Human beings. The mice are mice. Different genetics, adapted to live there so I hardly think that they would be suffering from any sort of anorexia or being generally scrawly. Feed them with sterioids and give back their buck teeth!

But just like Vinnie said: We should be grateful that we're getting some episodes at all. It's amazing no matter what, but I personally still think that it wouldn't have hurted to ask the old generation of fans what they think.

My opinions after reading this article are similiar to a lot of people's on here, so I won't go into too much detail when I state them.

I think that they look a bit feminine and they need to bulk up a bit. I'm not such on Throttle's glasses. They just don't look right at all.

I'm happy that the majority of the original cast are returning to reprise their roles. I don't think it would be the same if Throttle didn't have that smooth voice. That voice is drool-worthy!

Either way, I'm happy it's coming back. Some BMFM is better than no BMFM, right?

Marvel has never did opionon polls on how character designs are viewed by the public. That's why those people make a lot of money, 'Character design by:'
I only hope Modo's chopper is anyother than purple.

Change is good. I mean really good. Look at what Marvel has popped out the last few years. (Yes I am using Marvel 'cuz it's the only one I truly follow, but it applies to all other companies)

X-Men Evolution cartoon: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. (The muti-lines of Comic books) It wall depends on who the artist is, but they all follow the same lines. What is In?

TMNT are stream-lined. April FINALLY got rid of that damn yellow jump suit no one in their right mind would wear.

I've gone off my point.

It isn't what we *Want* That counts to any design company. It's what is out there, what's been drawn in fan art, what's going to SELL.

It's been 10 years since BMFM ended. There's a totally new market that's open up. BMFM needs to compete with the likes of Anime' Inyasha (Sorry for bad spelling on these toons) Poke'mon and such.
The good thing for BMFM is that it is NEW and Diffrent from what is out there. The pumped up Terminator look isn't just 'out' but dangerous and not realistic to any war.

WW2 is a good example. How many soilder were able to get supplies when they needed them? Healthy eating and regular meals are a luxary.

We can't forget that War for a dying planet must be harsh.

ahhh I ranted enough.

I don't mind the new look. I'll be watching the new series simply because it's Biker Mice from Mars. That doesn't mean I won't still love the orginal series. I always will, as I'm sure you will always love it, as well.

Just means that if I write fanfics/draw fanart for the Biker Mice, I'll have a choice between the "Classic Biker Mice from Mars" and the "New Biker Mice from Mars".

I just think of the two show happening in althernate universes. In one universe is our classic, buff Mice, while in the other universe, there's the new, more streamlined Mice. And, of course, each Biker Mouse universe will have their own alternate universes within them.

Now, I wonder what would happen if the "Classic Biker Mice" met up with the "New Biker Mice"... :D

I can't say that I'm crazy for the new design, but it doesn't look too bad to me. Except the lack of buck teeth. They're mice for gooness sake!

That they have the original voice actors is the best news though.

Another fanfic idea: The Plutarkians stole most of the water from Mars. The Regenerator is supposed to replenish the water supply. Suppose Earth and Mars managed to drive the Plutarkians out, and Mars is recovering? With the Plutarkians gone, the bros would have gone back to Mars. Everything would be in severe shortage there, so naturally they would have lost weight. Now this Renaldo Rump character has the Regenerator, Stoker's trying to get it back, and somehow this new alien race got wind of the thing... Get my drift? The two series could definitely tie together, depending on how they start it.

And, yes. They need their teeth!

Definately its one of the most important things is the voice behind the face. It felt already weird to see the Biker Mice from Mars in e.g. finnish/swedish/dutch ;)

Well as my first offical post here on Red Planet, this seems like the perfect topic to start with. (yes, I have updated my status from "lurker" to actual member. If you think I'm crazy, you can find me on Devart. terrabm.deviantart.com)

I'm not sure how I feel about the designs. The thinner builds are fine, and well a more realistic approach over all. Considering their planet is somewhat devistated after all.
But...I dunno I guess the extra "shaggy" appearance is a turn off for me. Also more realistic, but I think it'll just have to grow on me. Pun completely intended.
Throttle's glasses, though I'm not completely sold on the design are much better than the old ones. Hell I OWNED a pair of the old ones, you could buy them at any drug store.

Moving on to the next article that was posted on DA: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/25070172/

I am THRILLED that Stoker is going to play such an important role. However, his being a "general" does throw me off a bit from the usual "I hate Army" stance. Ah well. Thanks for letting me rant. Ride Free!

Lurker? I can't remember seeing you as a lurker around here, but hey, welcome in either case :)

And I disagree with you... thinner builds and no buck teeth makes them look just awful. I sincerely hope that they won't be looking like that in the series.

Great to hear from you again TerraBM :D

For the new watchers it wouldnt be hard to accept. But I bet the old watchers from the original series will have some adjusting to do for be able to accept the bros in this form.

For some parts it stays personal tastes and hard to discuss about from certain bits. I keep hoping they wouldn't change Modo too much :(

Stoker in the army is very hard to believe ;) One of the more funnier things in the old series was the tension between the martian army and the freedom fighters.

Yer welcome for the rant :P

I knew this would happen. Amine the curse of all toons here lately.
Don't get me wrong, I actually like anime but not on every cartoon in the known universe.
My poor Throttle :'( . He's lost all his buffiness. They are too skinny and what's with that hair, glasses and the teeth.
Oh well so goes life as they say. One would think that since the fans have kept the series alive all this time they would have been taken into consideration.
But it's all about the bucks. What will bring in the kiddie cash for toys and other money making items.
I give little hope for the quality of the stories, well there is always the Red Planet and the great stories in fandom.
That's just my humble opinion such as it be.
