I know the new Bike Mice series is released in Europe, but when will it be here in the US? And on which station?
Thanks for letting me know
We have to wait till 2007? Oh man...=(
I bet it will be in the middle of the year too. >_<
Nothing is confirmed for the USA, and indeed it may even be 2008!!!
The US kids broadcast market is very strange at the moment, hardly any channel is achieving meaningful ratings. We are considering all options.

Well I think the trend has finally played out. Most of what has come out since the late 90s looks awful and has blah stories. Kids are more sophisticated than that.
Can you make sure the DVDs for the new series will play in the US? I have a feeling we all be buying them rather than wait.
The problem with DVD's from Europe playing in the U.S. is PAL vs. NTSC. You would need a PAL compatible DVD-player to playback them.
Region protection isn't really a big issue anymore since much players are nowadays region-free.
But for the rest there shouldn't be a thing about it. And at least Amazon sends stuff all over the globe :)

Considering how just about all this techno stuff is made by the Chinese or the Japanese, why aren't we all using the same thing? :!:
And no I really don't want a technical reason, I'm just channeling the Russian from Armaggedon.

One side is stubborn(?) technical dudes who thought their own stuff was better or something (PAL vs NTSC) but I'm too little knowledgeable/young for that matter.
But the second thing was an invention from the record/movie companies to protect their markets so that ya wouldnt be able to purchase/use a disk from a other part of the globe. It's been a marketing decision, nothing more.
Regionalisation of DVD's is a marketing decision as Vinnie says. Truth is that you can now buy a multi region DVD player in Europe for €39 or less. Unusually Americans aren't complaining enough!!
As for PAL V NTSC. Don't even think about NTSC it is zzzzz
NTSC = Never Twice Same Color
I won't go into the technicals here - Google it.

Thank you, Bookworm; you took the words right out of my mouth. ;)
:o 2007!? Awww, phoey. :'(
There's only so long a person can wait, y'know. :;sighs:: Well, at least we'll have the clips on youtube. And some of us are fortunate enough to have all 3 seasons on tape
2007 OR 2008?! Crud, but that bites BIG time!
Speaking just for myself, I may look into the DVD thing. Unfortunately, though, MY DVD-recorder/player is a "Region 1" type only. I was hoping it was one that could take Region 2 or higher.
I'd suggest to look very carefully and ask the sellers very thorough if one of the ones they're selling is region-free or can at least playback region2 aswell.
Often the cheaper ones are easier regionfree then the little more expensive.
And else you could try to get one from europe or something to the US. I don't think it would be that much with a cheap one (around $50).
As for the series. I'm very sad that the show isnt airing in the US for a long time from now. I know I can see the series myself, but it would be much cooler if a lot of others could watch it too and discuss about it.
*hopes that US will see them sooner!*
I'll have to try that, Vinnie, thanks. I got my present DVD-machine at Wal-Mart last year when I got my income tax refund....mainly because it IS a recorder, too. Came in pretty handy several months ago when my VCR bit the dust.
I'm guessing Canada won't see the new BM show until after the US has.
"The new Biker Mice from Mars series will be airing in the U.S. in 2007. I don't know which channel(s) though... "
Oh your god!
Maybe they are showing the Biker Mice in Aust, Fin and UK as a test run

Well, more possible it would end up as 2008. It's not really a testing run, it's beginning more to look like the series are not fitting the 'agenda' of the stations in the US. But I hope they will buy the series nevertheless, sooner the better.
If they don't wanna pick the series up, maybe there is a way to release DVD's of the new one here anyway? I know I've seen some for shows and the like that aren't on TV here.
(If not I know what to get to make my PS2 play any region DVD, but it'd be more fun to see them on the big screen out in the living room.)
Gotta say I can't see how kids are maturing. I have a little brother who is watching Fairly Oddparents and Spongebob. I know those are aimed at the younger kids but it seems the only mature cartoons are the animes and those are few and far between. The only mature cartoons I've seen are tmnt and for some reason that hasn't been on as much. I think cartoons were mature in the 90's since it was suposed to be a grand era but I don't know maybe the TV people are just insane.
The networks are all into making kids' TV "educational." (Yes, those a sneer quotes.) Most of it talks down to kids like they don't have a brain in their heads. And most of the kids I know wouldn't be caught dead watching any of it - those over about 4 years old, that is. (Spongebob? Gag! If we still had that wonderful barfing emoticon that we had on the old site, I'd insert it here.)

Well, quoting a little old text...
Since for a while, the first DVD is for sale at sites like amazon.co.uk. I'm pretty sure americans (or any other citizen around the globe) could order it from there and get it imported. Only downside would be importingcosts, but thats all.
It would maybe solve partly a bit for the fans who desperately wants to see the new show.
Well, at the time I posted that, it wasn't availability, it was region. But the DVD's are region free now, so we -can- use them here. :) (I'm gonna be getting one when I get paid next. :D)
The only catch is that it's PAL color format and not all US DVD players will work with it. (But my laptop does, apparently. It will emulate the PAL color format, so I'm fairly sure that it'll play the DVD's.)
PAL/NTSC is much more then just a different 'color' system. But this is not really the place to talk about it. Read about it on wikipedia :)
It's quite interesting.
I'm not suprised your laptop can playback such DVD's. Computers aren't really affected by the problems caused by PAL/NTSC/SECAM incompatibility (with the exception of TV-in cards).
I'm glad you will be able to get the DVD. Have fun with it when it arrives. It's cool!
Some manufacturers of PC/laptiop DVD drives as well as some Computer brands regionalise the players. This usually maifests itself as giving the owner 10 options to choose the region/format before it chooses itself automatically.
Beware.
Software and firmware is usually searchable to overcome this scam. But in the case of firmware you need to be very careful in apllying the fix as you could render the drive useless.
Well, that's just what the program -said-, so that's what I referred to it as. ;) I know there's a bit more to it, but it's easier just to lump it all under 'color' I suppose. (Because the colors are slightly different, so to a 'layman', it's easier to describe it as "the colors are different" than to go into detail of why. LOL It's actually a different encoding system, but the main by-product is still the color.)
There are programs online that are designed to fool a computer and let you play discs from anywhere in the world, so you might look into some of those before changing the region on the drive...mine says it's only five times and then it becomes permanent. I think it's a 'friendly' thing so if you decide you have a pressing need to move somewhere else, you don't have to dump the computer. LOL
Okay, I just saw on the main page of the official BMFM website that the new series was discussed at this year's Comic-Con in San Deigo, and saw a pic of the panel team there, too. So MY question is this: Is there ANY news on when the series will be coming to the U.S.? I'm still being patient (as are ALL the BMFM's U.S. fans, I'm sure), but I AM curious. What's the news, if any, on this?
I was there for that panel- it was very entertaining! Rob Paulson and Jess Harnett were cracking wise the whole time and it was a riot. They also showed a couple new pieces Gang of 7 animation are working on- which were flat-out AMAZING. I had the opportunity to chat for a bit with Tom T. at the Filmation booth and with Rich Arons at the Go7 booth later on during Con, and they both confirmed they were shopping the new BMFM series to the US networks but the network response was iffy. Tom T. mourned the days when they could make a series and it was snapped up immediately- that is no longer the case.
But since it's doing amazingly well in Europe and spreading to Finland, etc., that's a good indication some network here will want to make a buck off it. You can always count on the networks to be greedy jerks.
Interestingly, they had Bernie Wrightson's prototype designs for the new Biker Mice up on the big screen and several of them -especially Charley- had SEVERAL wildly different variations on the final versions they eventually picked. I admit I don't like the redesign on Throttle's bike (Green? WTF, guys? What was wrong with always-stylish and eternally-cool black?) but that's a minor quibble. Slimming Vinnie and Thottle down turns out to be a counter-reaction to the steriod-induced look of the 90's- I can see why they'd want to differentiate art styles, really. Carbine's anorexic redesign was confirmed as being 'Paris Hilton-ish' in origin. Everyone laughed.
When they did the Q&A portion I got up and said, and I quote: "The world wide web will slaughter me if I don't ask this. Is there going to be a complete DVD release of the original Biker Mice From Mars series?" The whole room cheered. Tom T. blinked in surprise and said helplessly, "I don't know. The Evil Empire -Disney- owns the rights. We have no control over it."
When I talked to Bernie Wrightson about doing the redesign for BMFM (we see him at Con fairly often- he's a absolute darling) he admitted he had no idea why he'd been approached to do the redesign but he had a blast doing the project- it was lots of fun. I chuckled and told him I thought he was a perfect choice.
Hope this helps...
...
Paris HILTON?! *runs for the bathrooms*
I think I'm gonna be sick...
I figured they went for anorexia Hollywood stereotypes but having Hilton's name attached now just makes me wanna puke.
*will now never be able to look at Carbine without hearing "Paris Hilton" in the background*
:'(
Hmmm... I wonder how serious the Paris Hilton comment was.
I'd be fascinated to know what the prototype redesigns looked like.
Same here, Prodigal Fan! Though I surely hope those would look better then the prototype's of the original series! :P (Which has at least two previous designs before the final one appeared)
*grins and winks at Spy*
And you're right..... we would'a slaughtered you if we heard that you were there and hadn't asked that question.
*sighs*
Okay, a whole room explodes with cheers from that question, and Hellney STILL doesn't get the hint? what do we have to do? Steal bikes, bust in the front doors, steal their archives and blow the place up? *thinks about it* actually..... not a bad idea :D

The new Biker Mice from Mars series will be airing in the U.S. in 2007. I don't know which channel(s) though...
But I move this from Communications to The Armory because it's better put there ;)
The baddest mammajamma of Mars!
