There has been some... unpleasantness... on Wikipedia over the status of the new show. There is one member who is determined that it is "clearly a remake" of the 90s series, and keeps 'correcting' the article to that effect. I maintain, however, that it is a continuation of the original, merely being set some years later.

I would appreciate it if the intention of those behind the show would be formally clarified.

Prod, check out the BMFM. TV site. There's the shows synapse over the series status. Its 10 years after the end of the Plutarkian War. My guess just about right after Once Upon a Time on Mars. Give or take a few months.

history when the planet was strip mined by the conquests of the Plutarkians. Today, the Martian Mice are dependent upon the Regenerator to create their water. It is a brilliant machine created by the equally brilliant General Stoker.

There's also mention that Stokers been missing for 10 years in the 2006 series. Unfortunetly I can't recall the exact episode. Its sparadoc, but the two series do meet up too. Near the end. The last what? 3 or 4 episodes of 2006 show the gap and the continuation of the series.

I'm nost sure of the exact links to help you prove the case Prod. :/ Vids don't work well with dial-up.

Ahh the problem with wikis, when you have people that know what they're talking about and people who will not be convinced that they don't.

Thanks for the link, Whipblade - useful.

Torama, I've pointed out various links - returning characters, references to past events - even the moment when (I forget in which episode) you briefly see a 'photo' of the bros at the orphanage from 'Chill Zone', all to no avail. I suspect it's one of the extremist new series haters who want to completely disassociate the old and new series.

Disassociate by claiming a remake doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but I only understand some aspects of psychology ;)

If I may throw my opinion into the ring, I like most people, prefer the original 90's series over the 2006 one, but I still have a warm place in my heart for both, and I can see the 2006 as a continuation and not a remake.

Well as for me (i think I already posted something over this in another post) I don't hate the new one I haven't seen any of it besides what was shown on youtube.
What I can say and will say is that the new designs are quite ugly in comparison to the old ones, the intro is also quite bad comparing to the old one but that is not the problem.
The problem is the looking like a flash thing for an animation of such a caliber and worst then that is the inconsistencies that exist in at leas one episode that I saw, "Mice Down under" they draw them in what.. mining gear? in one scene and the next they were back to normal, and right on the next scene back to mining gear and so forth during the episode.
This kind of work is devastating for the credability of the team that did and for the quality of any cartoon.
Story wise well, I can't say much like I said only saw one thing or another.
So I'm not a hater but one can't argue in no way about the bad quality, animation and drawing wise.
Story wise well it became a little to furry for me, other that that the designs though ugly in form they do are good in most ideas, Charley was completely renewed and very well, her bike as well (up to the part of the big foot bike; stupid in my opinion) the rest wasn't all that bad for the exception (in my opinion) of Modo's bike (they could so not have touched it), Vinnie's wasn't that bad for the exception of the bikes tail, and Throttles was good though they could nave skipped the recoloring.
Of course this is me. (for the exception off course of Modo's bike there can't be anyone out there that like's it not the bike and not the helmet, there just can't)^^

1. If the Eps on YouTube look like Flash - it is because YouTube is Flash!!!! You need to see an Ep in a higher quality format before expressing judgement! & you really need to see whole eps if not the series. They will be available as individual episodes for purchase by download in the next few weeks.

2. Yes Biker Mice Down Under was legendary as was Desperados for production problems but the final versions were of high quality. The supervisor on this series, who also did the original as well as many many other high profile series described this as the hardest TV series he had ever seen.

3. Yes some people don't like the design - but the kids who are the target audience do. As for the green bike & the blurple bike, if you go through the forums you will see much debate. I didn't like the green either, but bikers do. Look on The PCH in CA, Moyenne Corniche in France or Box Hill in The UK & it is a prevailing color.

Unfortunetly, I dislike green, BUT It's better than YELLOW! *shudders* Green in bikes have been getting more popular in Canada too. This year there's eighteen! 18! of them on the road. I've noticed the increase since BMFM '06 showed the 1st preview. Dunno if the Mice have anything to do with it. Or not. It's just something that sadly people like. Vibrant Green. :P

And as a side note; The kids LOVE the new designs and vibrant colors and that fast moving intro jazz XD - Target audiance = Kids = Kids love BMFM,..... when it's on. (I just miss the old furry look, but it wouldn't compete with Yugio..YOU-Gee-OH.)

So ah KuDo's to the Crew Criterion. Entertainment needs to be one step ahead of trends. Now... if only more stations in North America would oick it up.

Back in Jersey I frequently saw a couple of bright green Kawasaki Ninjas. I must say, although I love Vinnie's bikes, in all their red glory, almost as much as I do Vinnie (!), I have to confess to drooling over those Ninjas. They were beautiful bikes...

It's all green and purple (and occasionally both on the same bike) down under too. Except for the choppers, I haven't seen one that isn't black yet, aside from the one (1) I saw that was dark red. I have Ninja and ZZR lust but I am only ever going to be able to fit the smaller one and only after I no longer have the baby attachment. And that's assuming I can be bothered actually getting the bike license by that stage :)

My kids loved what they saw of the show, though we haven't caught too many eps here (having no idea when it was on) so I may have to invest in some dvds.
