Of course I'm sure everyone's noticed the changes between the first three seasons and the 2006 revival, but I thought I'd start a topc to discuss them. Give me a heads up if I somehow missed a thread already dedicated to this topic.
First off the bikes. Aside from Vinnie's, Throttle's and Modo's went through a major overhaul. Did the creators ever address why there were major changes?
The bikes had AIs right? Maybe they got copied into new bodies.
There were practical reasons for bike overhaul but no story reasons to my knowledge.
Truth be told?!?!? I didn't like the new series design that much.
I mean lets face it, the only thing that got better was Charley's new look, Modo's Height, the mobile garage, Charley's new bike aand... well that's about it.
The animation looks like a low quality flash for a animation Vinnie and Throttle look like they went on hunger-strike and it just became a little too furry for my taste. We already had the mice from mars as the good guys, the fish from Plutark, the rats and the hyenas also from mars, and a lot of other monsters, that was enough for me.
Now we have a whole population of cats (from Saturn) and I remember something about rabbits from the moon o_O?!?!? (I don't even want to know) just to much furries.
ell that's already to much of down sides for it. Unfortunately there is more (at least in my most extremely humble opinion, which is very important since not only am I a cartoon "consumer" as I'm a Biker Mice big fan)
- The bikes:
Throttle's bike is good but could skip the green paint job (after all this is Biker Mice from Mars not Power Rangers from Mars, whats next, a pink a yellow bike?), Vinnie's is the better remodeled, but lets not talk about Modo's.
Ok let's talk about Modo's XD (he was my favorite of the bros).... of all the bros bikes Modo's was the one to have a major redesign, from Virago like, to Trike. To me was a big deception, the trike doesn't give that much of dynamic movement sensation to me. the color keeps almost the same with the main one being a bluish purpled one. I still remember in the intro Modo all leaned against his bike's Sissy bar (I can't believe you call that in english, no matter) with his legs crossed over the tank polishing his fingers and then stretches his bionic arm out, blitzing Greasepit out off his trike... simply genius. He cant do that now since he hasn't a sissy bar any more :P and in over all it was way more beautiful than the new one
- The Helmets:
Vinnie's helmet new design is very good, Throttle's once again could skip the recoloring and Modo's is outstandingly ugly.
- The intro:
In the original they focused in the theme: The bros running from the labs on mars, the change of scenery to earth, Chicago being ravaged by Limburger, the bros running around the city fighting out the bad guys some what effortesly, which could be a down side for the exaggeration but then again its an intro, it must portrait the cartoon quickly and simple and the impact they made in the scene changes made it work quite well.
The new one is focuses on the bros doing stunts through out mars, showing some fighting the bad guys. I could take that its the bros having fun, then being intersected by the bad guys which they must fight off.
I didn't see the new cartoons to the exception of what I could in youtube so I can't really relate that much to the cartoons it self thus not being able to see how much bad or good is.
But if one sees the intro alone not looking to the cartoons, I think there isn't that much people who likes more the new one over the old one.
So when I was sad because the biker mice from mars ended and while I was daydreaming for years for the day they would grab the bros and make a new run I wasn't really expecting such bad animation. sure a more modern one but not this a bad design.
No - which is hardly surprising. Their main concern, one would assume, would be quite rightly for newcomers; explaining the reasons why their bikes are different would have needlessly bogged down events in backstories. Remember, it was over ten years ago that we last saw their original bikes - presumably even Martian bikes get worn out, especially given the not exactly gentle treatment they receive! Possibly they were scrapped, but I like to think that they are enjoying a happy retirement in whatever the motorcycle equivalent of a peaceful meadow is.
As for 'real world' reasons, it obviously would be interesting to know but as far as I know nothing has been said. Fresh series, fresh bikes - I suspect that's all there is to it.
