Just something i find personally interesting. Don't participate if you can't be bothered.

How did you come to choose your nickname for use on Red Planet?

Mine: From a short story i wrote when i was 17. I figured it was a sure fire bet no one else would have it. Has subsequently been shortened thru my own laziness to Intrepid ;)

Mine comes from an old name from the Unofficial Biker Mice forum. She was a character I was working on, but never got around to fleshing out. I simply revived her for Red Planet.

Course, on the first Red Planet (ezBoard), I was Petra Pan, which in my ezBoard account. She's Peter Pan's fictional twin sister.

When Red Planet switched from ezBoard to it's own, I saw the chance to revive Starblade, and work on the character again.

I've even revised the current version a little.

LOL, Mine's really a unique story. ^~^ Well, actually Yuffie is Yuffie Kisaragi from Final Fantasy VII. I was, what, 7 when it came out. I would sit on my sister's bed and defend her when my sister complained about her (b/c everyone thought I was annoying, too)

Because of Yuffie, I started playing FFVII - the first game I ever played by myself. After that, I became a gamer & now I live for games! Yuffie has also been "raised from the grave" & so my love is now more understandable ^~^.

I chose Yuffie because, even though I love BMfM, I can't remember the series too well - I was too young! I've never put away the videogame if that makes it better ^~^ I also live in America, so when the series was cancelled, I never saw it again.

Anyway, by fluke I found out the series would be reborn & so I joined Red Planet in hopes that I could learn @ the series --> I felt that it wouldn't be right of me if I took "VinnieBabe" or something.

So, yep. Yuffie is basically my Internet name. I use her just about everywhere, unless it's a specific series... I even have "YUFFIE" as my Liscence plate! (No joke).

~*Yuffie - geez I talk a lot! ^~^

Not that very difficult for mine :P My main (and only? ) character full name is Vinnie van Wham II (I assume that everyone knows the roman number additions in names), and since I use the username 'Vinnie' on quite a lot of other place it would only but the easiest to use it here aswell :)

And probably also some other reasons I can't remember at this moment.

The torama is a Final Fantasy critter (well was in VII and VIII I think, in X they became coeurls), basically a giant tiger with giant spellcasting purple whiskers. I thought they were cute (except when they killed everyone) and I liked the sound of the word, it became my nick for a while (this is one of four).

It followed me over here because it's what everyone off here knows me as, so I figured I'd keep some consistency for purposes of user friendliness.

hrm..... lets see.... It started with my first time on the net.. some oh... gawd years and years ago! whippy.... was the name I used. I haven't got a clue why.

Little later on I tried my hand at writing Transformer Fics... Whipblade was one of them..... Never panned out. Hated the fic anyways.

Then Whipblade just stuck.

I'm thinking of using the name in a Fic, I'm just not sure if It'll be BMFM related or not.

Let's see now *scratches her head*... it all started a couple of years ago (when I was 14 or 15 I suppose) when the name "Black Storm" was born. It's a nickname I've used during my Transformers / Beast Wars obessed fandom years, often in an RPG chatroom (now non-existant). The 'orgin' behind creating the name "Black Storm" all start simply from 2 things. Black =my favourite and No.1 colour. Storm =my favourite weather, and my element (air).
However the full name "Black Storm Van Pendragon" surfaced when I stumbled into the "Unofficial Biker Mice From Mars Fan Club" website, and quickly shoved my TF/BW fandom aside, and let the BMFM obessesion take over me (and return after years since it was cancled). The middle name Van just seem to 'happen' -I can't quite recall a reason to it, but I think I like that european family name (or rather that I find it sounds kinda cool). Now the "Pendragon" -it all happens when I found out that the ledgendary King Arthur's last name is "Pendragon"...and since I LOVE dragons (although there's the "Pen-" in front of it) -so, viola, "Black Storm Van Pendragon" ((Actually the "Van" pops in AFTER I found the last name "Pendragon")). That nickname actually represents my shape-shifting black dragon alter-ego, that y'all know, and whom 'represents' my second personality.[/i]

I made the mistake of using a character name as my handle in a fandom. This was before I knew about Mary Sue syndrome, and was perplexed by the reviews I got from my first story posted in it: "Wow, it's not a Mary Sue fanfic!" I then decided a more generic handle was needed, especially since my interests cross many fandoms. "The BookWorm" was nabbed already, so I added my initials.

*snickers* Naw, it's nothing as profound as all that, Intrepid. It's pretty simple and mundane, really.

Anyway, you know when you register at any e-mail host, and you TRY to come up with a unique username, one nobody ELSE has thought of? Well, I thought "whitewolf" sounded pretty cool, so I went with it. Well, NOT too much to my surprise, I got a notification that it had already been chosen, then they gave me a list of alternatives, with assorted numbers behind the name. At the time, I believe the numbers were 85 through 90, and I rather liked "89" (don't ask me WHY; even I'M not sure about THAT one!), so I just went with it.

And THAT's the story behind my board-name.

Intrepidwarriors wrote:

And no, you don't! *baps Intrepid gently* That was a pretty cool guess. I rather like it, and am flattered by it.

Well, the story around my nickname is boring. ;)
I already used the name Lynn whenever I'm on the net. It's a short for my first name in English.
"Jazz" came later, during my time on the old Red Planet board. I absolutly LOVE music. But I didn't like the nicks "Muse" or "Musa". Then I came round the word jazz. I liked it and fitted it with Lynn, creating JazzLynn.
The number 82 comes from 1982, the year I was born. Pretty lame, huh. Anyway, that explaines my nickname.

I'm only wearing black until they make something darker.

mine comes from my fanfics...she started out as a character in it, then i chose it as my nickname, then it all expanded and now it's Blaze Van Wham(daughter of Vinnie in my fics). she then became my alias from there and it stuck.
I added the Van Wham from the fics and integrated that for one reason, and it turns out quite a few people like Blaze as a general nickname - adding Van Wham makes it mine ^_^;.

Mines is from a character I made up for the BMFM series a loooooong time ago. I hadn't had a real name for her until just recently. I had three characters.

One who I modeled after Keira Knightley's Domino Harvey character. I already had this character for a while, but I never really had a personality for her until I saw Domino and said, this is her! This is my character.(only my Domino is a bit goofier, like Vinnie) So I named her Domino. She looks exactly like Keira did only as a mouse and less butch.

Another one who I modeled off Will Smiths Detective Spooner charcter in I, Robot. I didn't have much trouble with giving this one a personality since I knew I wanted her to be a cold, ruthless killer, yet gentle deep inside. I named her Roulette aka Rusian Roulette.

And then there was Jin, who I basically modeled after Angelina Jolie, only with fur and a tail. She is the deepest of all my BMFM characters and has a very angsty past, though by her personality, you wouldn't be able to tell.

I didn't have names for them until I saw Domino. That's when I knew I wanted to give them Casino names. I've stuck with it ever since.

And since Rummi is my favorite out of my characters, I just used her name.

Heh. Mine is actually kind of funny.

At first I went by my fan character's name, Danielle. BUt then I discovered that naming your screen name after your fan char is a Mary Sue tendency. Since I wanted to avoid that, I decided to pursue a different name. Of course, that took a while because I had to get a new email account.

Well, afterwards I tried to think up a name. And as I'm sure most of you all know, I'm an anime fan. While thinking up a name, I remembered two characters from animes I liked: Kaoru (Rurouni Kenshin: Wandering Samurai), and Utena (Revolutionary Girl Utena). So I combined the names, and got: Kaotena.

As for Defender....I just put that in on a whim. :)

Another nick derived from IRC, ages ago. I've gone by the Raphael nickname on IRC and on a few of the TMNT boards/lists since 96. In 97, I created an IRC RPG character named Emerald_Isle (yes, creatively enough, she's from Ireland).

Since most places you go, you'll find Raphael is already taken, and I didn't want to be Raphael392883 or something, I combined Raph & Emer's nicks into RaphEmer.

Wow, yep, more excitement. ;)

heh. Don't feel to embarrased, some of the best threads are the older ones, Intrepid. but that's because they have the character of alot of users posting to them.

Well, seeing as I'm posting. (after an age or so of being innactive) I'll guess it's my turn.

Truthfully, the history behind my name has two aspects.
The first is the standard RP based growth, where you find a name that feels right and go with it.

Well, it was about when I was 13-15, I was getting into the online communities in depth, and started out on the old Riven chat boards, (yes, I do still play that game, and the other games from it.) when I came up with the name Nova. Simple, and at the time rather vauge. Nova is translated to "new" and as I was New to the whole thing, i guess my subconscious picked up on it.

Years later, once firmly entrenched in the old Yahoo.com Chat RP groups, I figured giving my character a last name would make it more Personal, and seeing as i had been evolving into an anthro dragon, Draconus seemed apt.

Although I will freely admit to using Nova Draconus in varrying stories and a few fanfics that never got published, the resonance behind that name hit home fully once i moved out of my home, after finishing school.

With my life my own, and the world my perverbial oyster, i was free to explore my world and existence. Of course, when you do something metaphysical, you may find things about yourself that are mildly surprising.

I was working out in the mountains of Canada (yeah, I'm canadian Eh?) at a resort hotel, and during that time I had been studying magics and the like. No, not satanism, just energy working and flow of nature things.

While going through a particularly bad Depressive state which I refer to Dark Moods, i guess you could say something awoke within me, by the name of Nova D'soto Draconus.

Now I know what you are all thinking, this kid's some freak-boi idiot, and I respect your descisions. However, during time and time again of self-reflaction and looking back upon the major and minor events in my life, it's quite possible that during my early years of self expression, and possibly even before that, I derrived an online persona based off of my dragon-side.

So, that's basically where my name came from. it's a part of who and what I am, and I'm sure alot of you are going to shout Mary Sue Sindrome at this, but hey, some times things like this happen.

All the problems in the Universe can be solved by finding the right Long Haired pretty boy, and beating the living snot out of him.

That's a far more interesting origin than mine. I stole mine from a character I made up when I was young and the show was still on. Original, huh? The name Shasta is from the Chronicles of Narnia. I liked the name, but thought that it was a stupid name for a boy.

Since someone else brought this up from the grave, I'll post mine.

Razaar Kaadle = The first 'real' nickname I had online. He (yes, he) is a character of mine from waaaaay back in the day. I mean seriously. He was one of my many childhood imaginary friends. When signing up for my first Yahoo! email account, I couldn't think of anything. Then I thought, "Hey, Razaar sounds distinctive enough, I'll use that." The rub with this name is that so many people thought I was a guy it wasn't funny. So I gradually have phased out Razaar back into his original being of a half-phsyco character in my RPing and comics.

So, without Razaar as a name, what would I use?!

I'd recently created a character with nearly the same tastes as myself, a female snow-leopard (Originally mixed with cheetah, though that is no longer the case). I hadn't named her yet, and was looking on some websites with baby names to find something that just fit.

I happened over the word "Kishi". I had no clue what it actually meant, but figured that if it was on a baby name site then it wouldn't turn out to mean "Big Hulking Pile of Poo" or anything, and since it sounds quite squishy (It's pronounced Kee-Shee), bingo.

So there came my new nickname. :D

PS: I later learned that Kishi is Japanese and it means "Beach" or "Shore", so technically the name means "Beach Kat". Entertaining since I like to swim.

PPS: For anyone wondering, Razaar Kaadle is pronounced "Ray-zar Kay-Dul" Alot of people want to ask how it's said, but for some reason fear that I'll get mad about it. :P

So that is the end of my boring online nickname post. LOL

(PPPS: I have had other nicknames, but they didn't stick. Such as "Fanci", "The Fighting Hellkat" (YES! It was ME! LOL) and "Fae")

{edit}Curse those spelling monkeys. Always with the mistakes!{/edit}

I'm on yer planet stealin' yer mices.

You know Kishi is around when you hear all the Martian males screaming "My God! It's Pepe LePew in white fur!" ;)

Then again, most Narnian animals could, now couldn't they?.
