My Friends The Biker Mice From Mars, Season 2, Volume 2, Chapter 8
My Friends The Biker Mice From Mars, Season 2, Vol 2.
Chapter 8.
Special Recognition: My thanks goes to Kashito91, for this chapter as it was he who came up with the idea, nice one Matt!
It was now noon on the day after the night before, we were all kind of out of it, all sporting some sort of hangover, in my case I just wanted to curl up and die, I vowed from that moment that I would never again let the demon known as alcohol pass my lips. Some of us were a little more with it than the rest, take Matt and Throttle for instance, please take them I thought as they were arguing at the top of their lungs, which only made my headache worse. What was the argument about, music of course, Throttle had just heard a Metalicrash song on the radio and had commented that they were the best band in the known universe, this really annoyed young Matt who quickly tried to show The Admiral how wrong he was by saying that a group called “Within Temptation†were the best.
Matt: BLOODY HELL, Admiral, why don't you just try listening to them?
Oh shit, there goes my headache again, I thought as Matt's onslaught towards Throttle continued. This was something I did not want right now, to see Matt and Throttle fighting.
Matt now stormed out of the garage mumbling to himself, Why can't they see that Within Temptation are way better than Metalicrash?. Matt made his way back inside the house which was spread over three stories in height and tastefully decorated throughout. He stormed into his room and slammed the door behind him. His room was on the top floor of the house, but even though he was now on the top floor and I was on the ground floor, what I heard next began another huge thumping headache, Matt had cranked up his 1500 watt stereo and as if to prove a point he was playing “The Howling†by his favourite group Within Temptation. What's a guy gotta do to get some peace around here? I thought, so I mad my way up to Matt's room and started hammering on the door, Matt turned the music down to a more respectable volume and opened the door, he then went back to his bed and lay on it listening to the music. I entered the room.
Me: I see that you've had a row with Throttle, what was it about?
Matt: Yeah I've had a row with him, you see him and the guys are always insisting that Metalicrash is better than Within Temptation, but they are so wrong.
Me: Matt, I know that you are passionate about Within Temptation, but what you've gotta realise is that not everybody has the same taste in music, I mean take me for instance, I'm an eighties man I love eighties music.
At this Matt walked over to his stereo and opened the CD drawer, he placed a CD that he had snagged from the guys into the drawer and pressed play, the sound that met our ears was in truth horrible, a mixture of high pitched guitar and the thumping sound of a huge bass drum, the noise very nearly made our ears bleed.
Me: I see your point, how can they listen to that?
Matt now replaced the CD with one of his own, “The Howlingâ€ÂÂ, he pressed play and the sound drifted out through the speakers and into our ears, the lead singer Sharon's beautiful voice sending shivers down our spines, I knew that Matt had felt the shiver too as I saw his long tail twitch. The song finally came to an end.
Me: Matt, do you think that you could drum to that and one Metalicrash song?
We began to walk down the flights of stairs that would lead to the ground floor and he assured me that he could, just as he entered the kitchen. He made his way to the fridge and pulled out a bottle of sunkist. I made my way into the room behind the kitchen, it was a spare room so I had allowed Matt to set up his drum kit in it, I sat at the kit and began to play, very badly I might add. On hearing a crash, Matt rushed into the room only to find me trying to play his drum kit. He stood in the doorway clutching his muzzle trying hard not to laugh, but then it was my turn to burst out laughing so Matt joined me.
After we had been laughing for a good five minutes, Matt had now gained control of his laughter and turned to me to ask a question.
Matt: Hey Daz, do you wanna go for a drive?, I need to get a few things.
Me: Sure, why not, I'll just let the guys know where we are going.
Matt wondered out through the door, taking in the beautiful scenery. He looked out over the vast grounds of the house, he notices an outcrop of wildflowers and makes a mental note to look at them in more detail later.
Having told the guys where we were going, I joined Matt outside, we made our way to his Midnight Blue Cadillac that he had lovingly polished earlier that day. We both got into the car and drove into town.. As we drove into town I realised that though I had known Matt for some years now that I didn't really know him at all. Matt was only to aware that there were questions that I needed to ask.
Matt: Ok Daz, out with it, what do you wanna know?
Me: Matt, I know that what I'm going to ask you may dredge up some painful memories for you, but I just gotta ask. How did you get to be on the front line in the war on Mars when you were only sixteen?
Matt: You're right, it does bring up painful memories but it's only right that I tell you. I was born in the crater of Olympus Mons, my mother often told me stories of a heroic mouse who would rid the universe of the Plutarkian's, at the time I listened in awe, but as I grew older, I dismissed them as what they were, just stories. Then the Plutarkian's invaded and eventually captured Olympus Mons. I did, however, find my father's laser and decimated the forces there. One of the General's, a mouse named Kaimera, found me among the smoking wreckage. Clearly impressed on how I was able to handle a laser, he sent me to Kawasaki City. Unfortunately, the Plutarkian's were beginning to capture Kawasaki as well. I fought and fought, I saw the only friend I had die at the hands of those stink fish. I had to repay them, I had to avenge my friends death. I charged forth, grenades in one hand and a machine gun in the other and managed to recapture the City of Kawasaki. There are times, even to this day, when I can still hear the screams of my friend. The day after, I heard Within Temptation for the first time, it kept me sane, sane enough to do vital jobs for the freedom fighters. Then there was the academy and that's when I met you, the rest as they say is history.
We pulled up at some traffic lights and Matt looked towards me, he could see the tears welling up in my eyes, the lights changed to green and Matt drove passed the lights and then pulled up on the side of the road. As soon as we had stopped, I threw my arms around him and cried for all I was worth. Matt did not know what to do at first, so he just sat there and gave me his shoulder to cry on.
I had heard many sorrowful stories in my time, but for some reason, Matt's story got to me, maybe it was the fact that he was still so young, hell aside from Hawk and Josh, Matt was the next youngest member of the Biker Mice. How could one so young have seen so much death and destruction and yet still be so level headed.
At that precise moment and almost as if by magic, Matt's car radio began to play and the song that it played seemed to fit the mood somehow, it was Matt's favourite group Within Temptation with their song “Our Solemn Hourâ€ÂÂ.
