Freedom Fighter Structure

Wasn't sure where else to put this, so I put it here. Not a fanfic, but the structure of the Freedom Fighters as it appears in my fanfics (especially in the 'Dark Times' series).

Wow, amazing! Even if it wouldn't be canon, it's still a very interesting and clearifying diagram and text on explaining the structure.

Awesome! :)

Oooo, awsome :D I really love the job you've done. This'll come really handy. Okay, Throttle is a Commander, but what were Modo and Vinnie?

Thank you both!

Vinnie and Modo's ranks have never been specified. I don't think any of the Freedom Fighters had ranks in the original series (Scabbard was a sergeant, but then he was Army) but clearly since then they've become more formalised (which sort of makes sense, since the FF replaced the Army and so presumably became official).

In my fanfics both Modo and Vinnie are Lieutenant Commanders (no actual TV evidence for this, though, but I found it difficult to believe they would be ranked much lower than their bro). Poor Charley is relegated to the rank of 'Auxiliary Mechanic'!

Hmmm..... weren't there some sort of mention in that episode where Throttle was about to be promoted and replaced by Rimfire? I could'a sworn.... or do i recall some fanfic again?

And yeah, the FF were kinda unofficial before but the bro's were kinda high ranked/valued even then, and Throttle seemed to be planned to be Stoker's "heir"/second. I've always felt that it has been a pitty that the FF got more formal. For some reason i just don't see the bro's liking of following the book and paper wars/official paths that much. Kinda takes the whole wind of being "wild and free" feeling.

You are not imagining it ^^ The replacement of Throttle by Modo's nephew Rimfire was seen in the episode 'Break Up'.

Maybe Vinnie enjoyed too much of Carbine's punishments! *snickering* Sorry, bro! *pats Prodigal on the shoulder*

so in the begining it was Amry and freedom Fighters, same goal, different methods and did not get along.
Stoker, the bro's and the others on the bace under the monestary were FF
Carbine and scabbard were army.

"Vinnie saw that it was good." (sorry Genisis fans, had too LOL)

Am i right so far??

then somewhere along the line they joined, presumable coz the once the Martian gumbyment sold out there was no army left.

So now they have Freedom Fighter Style, with Army rules and ranks?

So the two forces just kinda melded together, then with every bodys rank staying intact.

Am i right or am i way off?

and when did this happen, is there a reference to it?

with out knowing for sure i could guess it could either be before Rock and Ride, as mars was basically rubble then, or in between the two series.

Sorry, stoopid questions, but i havern't had the pleasure od seeing many episodes! :( woe is me.

'Once Upon a Time On Mars' is the best source for this.

What seems to have happened is that when the Plutarkians turned up in search of resources, the Government basically sold Mars to them. As the Plutarkians began to devastate the planet it was obvious they were not there to do a spot of gardening; the Government couldn't hide what was happening, but they tried there best to hold back the Army by sending them on wild goose chases. Stoker (posssibly a senior army officer, but I don't think it's ever specified) realised what was happening and abandoned the Army, founding the Freedom Fighters. Whilst nominally on the same side, there was great rivalry and mistrust between the Army and FF; the Army refused to admit what must have been patently obvious to anyone with half a brain cell - that Mars was being sold down the river. They were rigid in their dedication to rank and hierarchy, and used obsolete battle tactics (basically standing in line being shot at!) The FFs, meanwhile, seem to have little in the way of rank structure and used innovative hit and run tactics.

Eventually Carbine, who was initially strongly suspicious of the FFs (despite Throttle and Stoker being part of them) defected to their side. Shortly afterwards Sergeant Scabbard of the Army also led to troops to defect. (It's uncertain what remained of the Army after that) [OUATOM]. At some point after that the bros were captured, eventually escaping and coming to Earth [Rock & Ride, Back to Mars]

What happened then isn't clear, but presumably the Government collapsed and the Army was essentially dissolved as the Freedom Fighters became the front line troops. Certainly in 'Back to Mars' there is no sign of the Army, and the planet seems to be under martial law with Carbine dispensing justice in a less than satisfactory manner (condemming the bros to death on the grounds of a faked video and the fact that she's annoyed with her boyfriend!) [Back to Mars]

Eventually Plutark seems to have been defeated on Mars and Earth (Limburger and Co. seem to have ultimately escaped the bros' clutches [It's the Pits]) and our three fuzzy heroes went home. At some point (and I'm guessing it was during a period of peace between the defeat of the Plutarkians and the start of the Catatonian War) the Martian Council - presumably a civilian government - came into being [Break Up], Stoker vanished after accusations of treason [Adventure Begins], and the FFs seem to have been reorganized on a much more rigid, hierarchical basis, answerable to the government like the old Army. Carbine isn't in command, apparently being one of a series (at least five) of equally senior officers [Break Up].

*applauses*
Verrrrrrry smooth Prodigal! You just worded out what i was thinking and in much better way. Tho I'm thinking that the FF eventually just grew too big like an avalanche and it just had to get a structure of some sort, from which they eventually brought up and selected their current government.
