I have noticed that the holiday season brings out the nuttiest in people. or the most forgetful.

We had four people not turn up yesterday, even though i reminded them on the friday morning previous. one rang the thursday before her appointment and thought she was in then. but i had to remind her it was this week. she was disappointed cos she wanted to get in before christmas. i thought it a little weird but then remembered we it was already booked solid, and she didn't want to make the appointment at the time i originally suggested she do so. in the end, she missed out on the christmas week and got to choose from the next week, or waiting till mum returns. she's a good client but this seemed very unusual for her.

one lady rang to apologise. she totally forgot, but she's only one of a few. as my therapist friend says 'tis the season to be bloody inconsiderate.'

on top of that, the dude i was doing on wednesday rocked up a day early and clearly didn't remember his own appointment. even though it's a public holiday. luckily, he did show up the next day so he got in.

3weeks ago, a couple of clients were sitting in our carpark and were expecting to have their appointments. i didn't have them in the diary so i was more than a little surprised. freaking out, i ran inside thinking "not again! what have you done this time?!", only to find that they hadn't read the email properly that i sent them. so i resent it and told them we'd look forward to seeing them next week. gah!

and now they all keep trying to make appointments when mum's away. and i keep saying no, we aren't here...no, not even me...no, i'm having a real holiday...as much as having to do the phone appointments and product sales will allow..no, you can't go on holiday with my mother...GO AWAY! LOL

i'm gone with the fairies, but am pleased to say that i've only been responsible for one big stuffup. that's an improvement over the last 2 years by 99%.

regale me with your experiences with stupidity this month.

Only experienced my own stupidity. Just read the section titled Christmas shenanigans (the rest of the post is just photos but I suppose you can look at them if you really want to seeing as it is kind of a public post and all ;)).

Don't feel so bad! Last December while still living in my old house, I had ten sets of relations show up on the 12th of December in a panic saying they had packed up their Christmas gifts and the kids to drive to the airport, get on a plane and fly to Chicago so they wouldn't miss the family celebration.

Dumfounded I said 'It's only the twelfth of December! Christmas is a ways away! The extended family celebration doesn't happen until the 30th! The immediate family Celebration happens on the 24th and 25th! We rest and have private celebrations on the 27th and 28th! Give us a break will ya?! Go back home! No one's ready to celebrate Christmas yet! Heck we're not even getting ready for hanukkah! You've pulled your kids out of school before Christmas Holidays begin because you thought it was time for the extended family celebration? Come back the night before New Year's Eve like every year!'

Most of them go back to the airport, get on a plane and go on back home putting their kids back in school until the official start of the Holiday Season. Some like my dad's sister's husband's family tend to get huffy about honoring the Jewish Hanukkah Menorah Celebration combining it with Christmas calling it 'Utterly ridiculous to be celebrating Hanukkah AND Christ's Birth at the same time! What a sacrilige insult to Christ the CHRISTIAN Lord!'

To which I'm always responding 'Christ was Jewish what more do you want? The Jewish and the Catholics don't have problems with each others religion! You celebrate how you want to celebrate and let us celebrate how we want!'
